I'm SO nervous I will be taking my test next week (which I have already rescheduled twice because of my nerves as the previous dates got closer) and it is giving me a headache literally that I couldn't concentrate studying as the big day is getting closer!
And to make matters worse I have almost zero confidence, well, sometimes I do but not as much as I would've wanted to. The reason is because in nursing school I was only a B or C student. Very few A's. I am curious if anyone here that had similar grades as mine, has passed the NCLEX on the first try?

I had an 87% average in the LVN/LPN program that I attended, and passed NCLEX-PN the first time with the minimum of 85 questions.
I had a 3.5 grade point average in the RN completion program that I attended. A 3.5 converts to a very high 'B' grade on the grading scale. Anyway, I passed NCLEX-RN the first time with the minimum of 75 questions.
OMG I think my GPA was only somewhere along 2.8 and 3
The only positive points I guess :chair: was that I didn't fail any course though, throughout the RN program.
I have been studying mainly Saunders 5th ed cover to cover including the cd, La charity, and Delmar practice questions.
Other sources I have used only for the practice tests are Incredibly Easy 6 Comprehensive tests, Mosby's illustrated NCLEX-RN and another Mosby reviewer, to get
a taste of different styles. Gosh, I hope these are adequate enough

C student here!! I passed on my 1st try, computer shut off after 76 questions. I only did Kaplan questions and reviewd a couple points. I was also very anxious and expecting the worst but I did it. If I did it, you can do it too!!!
You CAN do this!!! Don't doubt yourself!! Good luck!! :)

I was a "C" student who passed NCLEX on the 1st try with 75 questions. So yes, it's do-able.!!!!

Sigh... I'm an average student and I've taken the NCLEX-PN and NCLEX-RN and I had to repeat my critical care rotation for RN school. I passed both tests on the first try with the minimum number of questions each.
Please RELAX, don't psych yourself out, and don't over think things. Obviously, you got through nursing school exams and for the most part those are more difficult than the NCLEX itself.

Our NS exams were really tough. We had to study really hard to pass ours, and not everyone passed each term, however our school has a really high pass rate. I would get b's and c's, but passed NCLEX PN the first time with minimum questions and passed NCLEX RN first time with minimum questions.
If you can pass nursing school, you can pass NCLEX!

I was not the most disciplined student in school, and grades are just a number. If you know the information, you will be fine. I passed NCLEX the first time with 110 questions or so, and only did a few of the question trainers on Kaplan. Just take your time, keep breathing, and trust your gut!

throughout nursing school I received only one "a", one "c" and the rest b's. I graduated in may and just took NCLEX on July 20th and passed on the first try at 75 q's. I did use Kaplan, but I think as long as you begin studying a few weeks before the test, doing nothing but questions and being sure to read the rationales and remaining confident then you'll be fine. try not to let your nerves get the best of you. I wish you much success on your exam.

Hi,
Similar to many posts above, I too was a B and sometimes C student... I even had one semester where most of my teachers told me I was better off withdrawing for the semester and retaking it next semester (luckily I pushed myself and passed for the semester, which my grade was reliant on my final..) I worked hard but I never received an A and was MOREEEE than happy with a B but I kicked butt in clinicals....
NCLEX: Never thought I would due to low self-esteem, not receiving high grades in nursing school and having the attention span of a goldfish (DAMN YOU A.D.D.) However, thanks to Kaplan(live on-line) Saunders... my loving parents and a great support system and about a month or two of preparation I gave it a whirl and passed at 75 questions.... I did not kill myself preparing, I did not study 8-10 hours a day because that does NOT work for me...but I did study hard and busted my butt... If I can do it, you can do it too.. and as cool as it would be to say I got lucky with my questions, I think it's much better to actually say, I knew my crap when taking the test!!!
Good Luck and do what type of studying works for you... my advice would be to not try to adapt all new techniques, stick to your study techniques in the past because if you made it this far, they obviously have worked for you :)
Thank you guys SOOOOOO much for your encouragement! I am so nervous that thinking of NCLEX day gives me "GI disturbances" LOL!!
I have been browsing through other threads about what they used for review, whether self-review or review class and I decided to do self-review and now that test day is just around the corner, I still don't feel ready enough!
:dzed: :sstrs: :grn:
Ok back to studying :) Thanks again guys!
