Has anybody applied or been accepted to Central Arizona College RN program??

Has anyone been accepted or applied to the CAC RN program?? I am getting ready to apply, and was wondering how many points I need to have in order to realistically be considered for the program. I have finished about 6 of the co-reqs, but I'm not a Pinal County student?? Does anyone know how many points it usually takes to be competitive or have any advice for me during the application process??

Thanks!

I applied to Gateway in October and got right in. I am doing the LPN Fastrack program and then rolling into Block 3 once I get all of the co-reqs completed for the MCC programs. I like the program alot. The only thing I don't like is the clinical site for this term, but hey its almost over so I can deal. The days vary so much week by week its hard to describe a typical one. Its crazy in the beginning, classes everyday except Wed for those of us in the day program. Then now that we are in clinical its seems like a lighter load. Some hybrid days for Pharm, which means no travel into classes which is NICE. Pharm is 2 hours on Monday normally. Theory is 1 day a week for 3 1/2 hours now. Then clinical is 8 hours on Thursday and Friday until the end of April. Then May is finals. Gateway was my back-up plan but as luck would have it I am VERY happy I went this route. Not ragging on CAC, but I have friends in this semester there and well I'm just glad I am where I am. I have more free time less stress.

AZMOM02,

Where did you have clinicals this block?

Thanks for the info. rmacharrie. Is it difficult?

I wouldnt say difficult....I would say time consuming. A lot of reading and tons of busy work that MUST be done to pass, but you get no grade for it. The beginning of the semester will overwhelm you, but the readings slow down more towards the end.

Hi rmacharrie, I applied to CAC and am currently getting all of my pre-reqs starting this summer (July to be exact). I have a question about applying to their nursing program because I did a couple calculations and I plan to apply for their program for the Summer semester (by then I estimate I'll have at least 39 out of a possible 53 points (I just low balled on the points) Do you think that would be competitive enough for their program?? or should I wait until Fall when I could have a possible 45/53 (yet again not including my HESI and low balling my BIO grades)?!

AZMOM, I am going to be applying for the part time Gateway program because I cannot afford to quit working and I can't seem to find a school that offers a night and weekend program. Wit this being said...............I have all my co-req.s complete and all I need is the HESI.....Any suggestions for the HESI and/or advice for the Gateway program?

Yes, I just completed my 1st block at CAC and it was very hard:grn:. If your starting in the fall brush up on all you can over the summer. I recommend getting some used books such as Potter and Perry Basic nursing any editions will help and start reading NOW....Also get a handle on math dosages. The class moves fast so good luck to anyone starting. It's tough but amazing all at the same time:redpinkhe

wow i wanted to transfer to Gateway but everyone keeps telling me that they have a 2 year waiting list! So i never did now i am still here at cac stressing about not getting accepted.
