U.S.A. Maryland

Hello! I will be applying for the 2015 WEA program at HCC. I am currently taking A&P 2 this summer and will be taking microbiology in the fall. Looking to see if anyone else is applying.

I am also surprised of how dead this thread is! I thought there would be more buzz!

Im so nervous! About a month and a half until we hear anything!

Anyone hear anything yet?

Not yet, but everyday I run to the mailbox! I had applied to the regular program for spring, knowing that I would not be able to attend due to work, but mainly to get and extra point, but I ended up getting accepted!!! It was so hard to turn it down, knowing that it's harder to get into the WEA program. I have a good friend that started in the spring and has been showing me what she is learning do I can be better prepared. I am just so anxious and impatient!!!

I think it will be another 2-3 weeks before we hear anything. I don't even know how they contact you...letter, email, phone? Someone from last year posted they received a call around the end of March. I'm not sure if a phone call is the first method of communication or if they only do that when the college hasn't heard back from a person. Impatiently wait and see is all I can do for now. Sigh.

Hey guys! I applied to the fall traditional program at HCC and I am anxiously awaiting a letter in the mail too! I do know that you guys can look on your owlnet transcript online and see if your major has changed over from nursing prep to nursing RN. That is a way to tell if you have gotten in before you receive the letter. My friend that is in the program now told me that. How many points do you all have?

They send you a letter in the mail. Also, you can check on your owlnet transcript online to see if your major changed from nursing prep to nursing RN. Thats how you know you are in too!

How many points do you think is competitive for the traditional program ?

If you are accepted you will get a brown envelope. I graduated from Harford last May. Good luck! It sure is a wild ride.

Thank you for the tip! Do you remember how many points you had when you got in?

I think I had 21 or 22 points. I graduated from the fall traditional program. The traditional programs are competitive but not as competitive as the WEA program. Interesting thing to note, it seems like grads from the WEA program take longer to find jobs then those in the traditional program due to hiring cycles. Just know it will most likely take at least 6 months to find your first job.

Oh wow okay! Yeah I have 22 points so I am really crossing my fingers and hoping to get accepted! Also, I just accepted a patient care technician position so I will be starting there soon which is good because I have my foot in the door for when I do become a nurse!

I can't stop running to my mailbox!! Haha. Nearing the end of March! I'm getting anxious.
