Harford CC Fall 2017

Has anyone else applied to Harford's Fall 2017 Nursing program?

I recently attended their drop-in session, where we were given information on the new admission requirements, as well as a tour of the clinical labs, classrooms, etc. I was impressed!

I'm doing accelerated.

I'm doing accelerated.

I was also accepted into the accelerated program, but I'm having a hard time finding the CPR class we need. Do you need your certification also? HCC isn't offering the Healthcare CPR until 5/6 but we need it completed before 5/1. I found a class at CCBC Catonsville that I'll take if I have to but I was hoping to find something closer.

Congrats! My job offered the CPR class that we need, so that's where I did my recertification. You should try Cecil College, if that's closer for you. I know they offer it, just not sure when the class is held.

HCC offers healthcare provider CPR as a continuing education class. It's usually on a weekend and runs approximately 8 hours.

The problem is that the next session of Healthcare Provider CPR at HCC is Saturday, May 6th but the accelerated program requires it to be completed before 5/1.

I'm not sure if we received the same packet since you're doing accelerated and I'm traditional, however, incase they are different, here is the info from my packet:

It must be either of these 2 courses:

CPR for Health Care Providers

or CPR for Professional Rescuers.

Check the American Heart Association website and the American Red Cross websites. They'll list dates/times/places of these specific courses and hopefully you can find something closer.

If you have trouble accessing the info, let me know and I'll look it up and try to post it here for you.

I just happened to come across this thread! I got my acceptance letter last week and was accepted into the accelerated program! I am super excited but also really nervous! I cant wait to meet everyone!

Hi, I also just found this thread. I was just accepted in HCC's fall 2017 traditional program and I can't wait to meet you guys, I am so freaking excited!! As for the CPR concerns... I obviously don't know where any of you live, but if you look into your surrounding city and county fire departments, a lot of them offer community CPR classes. You have to pay for them if you aren't members of those fire departments, but they might even be at a discounted price than what is offered at HCC. Just make sure to confirm that the class you are registering for is either the Health Care Provider CPR or Professional Rescuer CPR. You could also probably just google something like CPR classes near me. I also bet the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross websites have the ability to search for a class near you... Just a few options that might be able to help you girls out. See you all soon!!!!!

Hi Cass, I was accepted in to the fall traditional program too! Will you be doing the ATB option too?

Hey, Congrats! & no I will not. Initially I was very interested and had planned on it, but after doing some research and talking to a few nurse friends- I'm going to let whichever hospital I end up getting a job with pay for my continuing education lol. Some would rather just get it done and out of the way, and I completely get it. But I'd rather not acrue the extra student loan debt and add to my workload. I still think it's a great option, but it's just not for me. Good luck though, I'm sure you'll do great!

Congratulations to you too! & That's understandable. Alot of hospitals/places will still hire a nurse with their ASN, Like I work at Hopkins and they'll hire you if you're accepted into a BSN program. I am just like you said, trying to get it over and done with lol. But thank you, good luck to you as well! What day do you have lab?

I spoke with Jo Ann from the nursing department today and if you email her that you would like to take that class at HCC she might extend your due date for it. She also gave me info to call Paramedic Personnel at 410 838 8821 and they will direct you to exactly what you need!
