Harford CC Fall 2017

Published

Has anyone else applied to Harford's Fall 2017 Nursing program?

I recently attended their drop-in session, where we were given information on the new admission requirements, as well as a tour of the clinical labs, classrooms, etc. I was impressed!

So what was your schedule like? Is it the 9am-1:50 on mon or wed, then 7:30-3:30 for clinicals? Thanks for your help!

I'm in the accelerated program now and I had 20 points. I have classmates who got in with 18/24 points. If you think you have a good chance of getting accepted, I'd recommend going ahead and getting CPR certified and getting all of your documentation in order for all your past vaccinations and getting any vaccines that you need. They need proof of a chicken pox, hepatitis B series, MMR, Tdap, and proof of negative Tb. We got our acceptance letters for the accelerated program the last week of March and only had a few weeks to get a physical, take CPR, and get vaccines/documentation turned in. Start savong money now because the first semester is expensive with uniforms, supplies, and textbooks. It's been a whirlwind but I am grateful for this opportunity and would do it again in a heartbeat!

For the accelerated program our schedule was lecture on Monday and Wednesday 9:30-11:30 and a lab 12-1:50 either Monday or Wednesday depending on your section. Then we had clinicals on Thursday and Friday at 7:30. At the beginning of the semester clinicals were only until 12:30 but they progress to 3:30 by the end of the semester.

For the second semester (both traditional and accelerated) our schedule is lectures on Friday 9:15-11:05 and 12-1:50 plus two clinical days a week either Tues/Weds/Thurs depending on your placement. Then there is a hybrid class that is half online so you meet six or seven times on Monday's for one hour.

Don't get freak out about the point system. I only had 15/24, thought it wasn't enough to get in, yet I was accepted into the day accelerated. They consider yours grades you received in the require prereq. courses, and your TEAS score.

Thank you so much to everyone who commented back! I know you guys understand the massive anxiety is waiting! I currently have 18 points, but I was only .2 away from having an extra point on the point system for my TEAS. I have to be in the accelerated class due to my husbands career (military). The counselor said not to worry about retaking my TEAS to get that extra point, because he said at 18 he thinks I'll get in but I'm on the fence. What do y'all think?

Did you work with a regular advisor or someone specific to the nursing major?

He's supposedly the advisor who sees the majority of the nursing majors, Hoover is his name I believe

Can you apply for the accelerated program in the fall as well as the spring?

How is your experience with Harford nursing program?

The application period for the accelerated program starts in November!

Hi, my name is Rosaline, I live in Baltimore county. I have just been accepted into the LPN-RN program starting this Fall. I just want to connect with anyone that has been through / will be in a nursing program at Harford Community College. Thank you
