Tweety I'm glad your mom is doing better, but I can see how difficult it will be now that your sister has fallen into addiction again and will not be able to help your parents.  And how she might take financial advantage of them to deal with her addiction.  Perhaps some sort of paid caregiver could assist if needed, and maybe consult a legal or financial advisor as to how their assets might be protected

Stars I guess I could say "I feel like myself more than I used to"

Hi Dianah

Busier than expected day at work yesterday, though not as crazy as the previous 2 days

Quiet day after work.  Stopped at the library, exercised, watched  A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.  Got my birthday card from J, and we texted too

For a change I made waffles this morning, a change of pace but I'm not as fond of them as I used to be.  Will go bird watching this morning, then before noon I'll head up to my cousin's for Thanksgiving.  Think this may be a smaller crowd than usual.  Rest of the day should be fairly quiet

Going to get up into the mid 50s today,  thankfully rain will hold off until  later in the  day

Good morning!

Happy Thanksgiving!  (I think we're all Americans here at this point)

Joe, hope you have a nice time at your cousin's.

My niece and I have offered to get them some in-house help, especially when my mother was so off the chain, but my sister refused.  We might revisit that.  The legal can of worms is a can of worms, especially if my father is alert and oriented as he is.

Anyway, will set all that aside.  I'm going to my niece's for dinner and she invited my best friend.  We haven't gotten together as a family since Thanksgiving 2019.  We had to cancel Christmas last year when my niece caught covid.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Happy Thanksgiving! Can't call it Turkey day, as we have more pecan pie than anything else.

The across-the-street ('good') neighbors loaded up plates for us with turkey, greens, green beans, corn, stuffing, and pecan pie. Then the SiL came over w/ Nannie's grand and great-grand kids. They did their obligatory 20 minute visit and then they were gone. They brought a rotisserie chicken from Food Lion, stuffing, ham, mashed taters + gravy, corn, green beans and more pecan pie, plus two other kinds of desserts. Had a hard time fitting everything into the refrigerator! But, we won't have to cook anything for several days!

It is Siesta Time. And at least hubby won't have to wake up to ask where we want him to go to get supper!

Y'all have a good'n!

Happy Thanksgiving! Hubs has left me alone with Gma at his niece's while he plays music with his  friend. Brother-in-law just got back and brought cookies. Tomorrow we will visit stepdaughter and her family.

We had a dinner with my sister and her sons back in Oklahoma on Monday. Tuesday they left to go back to San Antonio and we left for Indiana. The boys stayed home.

now that I've "caught up"...

A belated Happy birthday, Joe! Hope you are enjoying time off.

Tweety, sorry to hear about your sister. Good that your brother thinks your folks are OK by themselves for now.

Stars and dianah, BOOKS!! I remember when I was pregnant and put on bed rest 16 days before they were born my sister sent a box of books and it was the best thing ever! I am slowly reading The Grapes of Wrath since I had never read it. I also started reading The Lincoln Highway by Amor Towles who wrote A Gentleman in Moscow which I really liked.

Twin B did most of the planning and a good part of the work for our dinner Monday. We had ham and various traditional Thanksgiving dishes. We made a pumpkin roll that was really good. And I made a cranberry/jalapeno/cream cheese dip similar to one someone brought to the book club's friendsgiving. It was a hit. My sister's DIL didn't get to come because their pet-sitter fell through at the last minute.

I gave my sister the quilt that my maternal grandmother made. She died when my mother was a child but my mother had quilt squares she had made for 2 quilts. Mother had them put together and quilted when I was a teen. She gave one to her sister and we don't know what happened to that one. I still have 2 quilts that my paternal grandmother made. They are quite worn, though. I will let my brother choose one of those if he wants.

I am thankful that I got Nannie to go to bed by 9 PM. I didn't want to sit and listen to her get real life, commercials, and crime shows all mixed up. She's convinced we know some of the people in the ads, she also thinks some of the crime victims are related to her. Since she was blathering about what she saw and what "someone" told her and so + so's pretty tie, but mostly she couldn't get a full sentence put together, and yet that didn't stop her from trying. I said, "I'm going out on the porch to sit with my hubby", and I put on my jacket and stood up, and sez, "Where are you going?" {I bit my tongue so I would not say "What's your best guess?"}

With her attention span, inability to understand, and especially with her attempts at providing us with a summation of whatever show we are ALL watching together, I'm about ready to toss her out in the back yard.
Hubby got upset with her because every. single. night. of the world we go through "Where are you sleeping?" and "Where can I go to sleep?" He said "Where do you usually sleep?" and she pointed to her bedroom door and said, "In there." He replied, "Well why do you have to ask us that every night?" ----"Because I want to make sure I'm not putting anybody else out." And who is here to put out? NOBODY!

And then when she tried to sit down on the toilet, pooped halfway down to the seat, SAT on the poop and slipped sideways between the toilet and the sink, nearly making it to the floor. Thankfully (because it IS Thanksgiving for another 2 + 1/2 hours) I was able to help her up with no strain. Then she had to stand while I cleaned her buttocks and the toilet seat off. She thought, since I had cleaned her off and she was standing in front of the toilet, it was time for her to start walking out of the bathroom. Nope. I told her to sit down so we can put another pull-up and two pads and the pj bottoms on her. So we did that, and I got her to take her sleeping pill and 1/2 glass of water. So THEN she started out to her recliner in the den! No, Nannie, go to your bed, it's time to sleep. At the bedside she had to stop and feel the chux to make sure it wasn't wet....AUGH! After I clean you up and get you in dry clothes, do you think I would make you sit on a wet pad?

Anyway, THANK YOU ALL for being there for me to gripe to!
