Hi everyone, I stopped by the nursing office on Thursday, 6/19/08 to ask when letters will be mailed out and the lady stated before the end of July. I applied on April 29th and called the nursing office the day after I applied and the lady stated by the first week of July. I am unsure if they know when they will be mailing letters. I guess I'm just a nervous wreak waiting. I also asked how many alternates they select and she said between 10 and 20. I also talked to a friend of mines who stated when she called to nursing office she asked what was the GPA cut off so far and she stated that it was a 3.7 and they had 100 or so people. She said the person she talked to said the GPA range was very high this semster, because they had a lot of people who came from Wayne State and applied. I really hope I am an alternate at least, because I have a 3.53. I don't want to take any classes over my grades are good. I think I will take chemistry this fall and reapply to WCCC this fall for January addmisions. But if I take chemisrty I could also apply to others schools. I'm praying for a miracle, because I have worked so hard.

Congrats and good luck! I just finished the first semester of the program. It is A LOT of work. The first 7.5 weeks you will eat, sleep, breathe nursing. It has been a pretty positive experience so far though. If you have any questions about teachers or classes feel free to ask!

WTG!!!! See you at the orientation! What campus are you hoping for? I am actually impartial....Either of them are fine with me.
Thanks Serentity. I don't have a peference but I am close to the Northwest.
I am closer to Western, but I excited about the NEW NW campus...So I would make the drive if necessary. :)

just posted this on waiting list forum and realized it should have been posted here so i am reposting here...
:angryfireuggghhhh!!!! so ****** at disorganized wcccd nursing office..
recieved letter today saying sorry...not in because of missing advanced standing form... bs!! i ran in circles trying to get this advanced standing form from wcccd and after many calls, visits, etc the nursing office told me "well don't you have the transfer credit evaluation form from us yet?" i said yes i do..she said "well that's what we are looking for." now i get this letter telling me i am not in the program because of this!! aaarrggghhh! i called the nursing office after recieving the letter and was told to call in the morning and schedule an appointment with mrs. norris and she would see what could be done..so hopefully she can see me tomorrow before either smoke blows from my ears or i drown myself in my own tears...i don't know if i want to cry or scream...my gpa is 3.96 and all other paperwork is there, plus i'll be going in with extensive phone records and postal date stamped letters showing i did my part and that they screwed up..arrgg
anyone else have a similar situation with them? if so, was mrs. norris of any help at all? any added advice or opinions on whether this meeting with her will help at all.. i'm going no matter what, but am curious as to how much you think this will help, if at all....the student counselor told me i should at minimum demand i be put on the waiting list, but to be honest i doubt anyone is going to go through all the hassle just to decline their position...
Hi,
Congratz on your acceptance & your acceptance with a glitch...(yes, that's a good way to put it!).
What I've learned about the nursing office:
This will be one of several "glitches" you will encounter in the nursing office.
(I am fortunate to have my seat in the program)
The right hand does not know what the left hand is doing.
If it is Tuesday, things are done differently than on Mon, Wed, Thurs or Fri & vice versa.
If you have a question you need answered, do NOT accept the first answer you get. Wait a few days & ask a different person on a different day. Guaranteed: you WILL get a different answer.
Mrs. N is NOT a good source for info of ANY kind.
I've learned to keep my nose in the books, my eye on the prize, & recite my my mantra several times DAILY.
(I am fortunate to have my seat in the program).
Stay positive & Good luck to all!

I hope you were accepted into the program this time around...
I know how organize WCCCD can be, so I always take my transcripts into the office, fill out the transcript evaluation form and personally hand deliever it to to someone. And I received my advance standing form in the mail....
HOPE YOUR EXPERIENCE HASN'T TURNED YOU AWAY FROM WCCCD its a great school!!!!
