Hanging From Open Warmers

Manufacturers recommend that we do not hang anything from the top of the open warmer. I was wondering if any of you had ideas about how to hang Gastroscesis silos, gavage feedings, etc.?

I don't know about silos, but ours have a way to attach arms to the sides to hang things on.

Dawngloves could you tell me what brand of open warmer you use? I am assuming that the arms are made by the same manufacturer, and they might only work with that specific bed.

I've used a device made out of metal that forms an arch over the bed and tucks under each side of the mattress of the warmer. It should work with any brand of warmer. It's been a long time and I have no idea what they're called or who makes them, sorry.

We hang the silos from over the tippy top, not from the bar under the heating element....is that what you guys are doing? We don't hang gavage feeds from them, we put those on syringe pumps or kangaroos.

We hang our feedings from a rubber band hanging from an IV pole next to the warmer if the heat is still on. If the heat is off, we hang it from a rubber band hanging from a paper clip hanging from the metal "grate" over the heating element.

We don't keep gastroschisis kids due to a lack of a surgeon, so I don't have advice for that one.

Yes, there are slots on the sides for arms, shelves and I can't for the life of me remember the maker! You know how you see something every day you don't notice it anymore?

We use giraffe beds. There are holes that you can stick the ends of an arched tubing with a little grippy area in the center that allows the silo to fit in a groove and stay perpendicular to the body.

We hold our gavage feeds and monitor the baby while giving it to them.
