Had to report my supervisor today

Nurses Relations

Published

Due to some truly outrageous actions on the supervisors part I felt obligated to resign and to report the supervisor to the BON. This is the second time in my 39 years I have felt obligated to reported a fellow nursing professional to the BON. I resigned due to the blatant violations of policies and procedures I was instructed to participate in.

I am not going to go into to details because there is a possiblity that 1) patient confidentiality could be breached 2) I need to work and I will never get another job if word gets out that I am a "snitch" (whistleblower). I know it is supposed to be illegal to retaliate against a mandated report but there is a big difference between "supposed to be" and harsh reality.

Just needed to vent to fellow nurses.

Hugs for you ((((((txredheadnruse))))).

Life would certainly be more stress free if the 'right thing' was also the 'easiest thing'.

I had the first of two different interviews this week. It went well. I don't mean this to sound pompous but I thought it would since it was for a position in a field that I have a ton of experience doing. However they want to make it a salaried position and the on call policy is I am ALWAYS on call. Hmm....very very hmm. I will see how the other interview goes. As my DH so wisely said money coming in is better than no money coming in BUT being harassed non stop also sucks. I so want to find a position where I can stay for a good while and enjoy the work. Don't want much do I? :-).

Bottom line I will have a job pretty soon I just hope it is one where all the major pieces come together for me. I hate hate hate hunting for a job. At least I am getting interviews.

Latest update: I accepted the position with the on call conditions. I am still looking, still leaving my options open. Yes I will give my best efforts to the new job but I will not stop seeking a better fit for me at this stage of my life. Here is hoping that the new job doesn't just talk about the good stuff but actually does the right thing. It is so much easier to be a good employee when the employer does the ethical legal appropriate stuff.

Proud of you, Tx! I did the same thing.....reported to state and the facility was fined an IJ tag. It is a hard situation to be in, but you do what you gotta do. Congrats on the new job and good luck in whatever the future holds for you!
