I swear we had a week of full moon patients this week. If it hadn't been so stressful (and serious-one patient very violent) it would have been comical.
This weekend I had some wonderful patients and two of them told me I was the best nurse they have had. We also had a code. For some people this is not as big of a deal as it is to others. I have been a nurse for 5 years and it was the first one I was involved in.
We saved someone's life this weekend. I know that many of you do this daily but for me, it was an experience that brought out the best in everyone. After the fact, we had a little debrief and bonded just a little bit more because of the experience.
I can wait another 5 years for another one. Just wanted to share a good story about nursing. It IS worth it. :)
Awesome! I miss being in codes in the ED - it's been years. So exciting and you're right, everyone comes together beautifully (usually), even if the patient dies, you know you did all you could. Great story!
I am glad you had a great experience recently, and thank you for sharing it. It is refreshing to read something positive about this profession for a change. :)
You got that right! Seriously there are soo many negative things on this website.

Thanks for sharing your story. I am just getting started off in nursing (passed NCLEX last month) and it seems more and more all I see here is negative stories about nursing. Yours encourages me. I'm looking forward to getting started.
