H1b Visa for nurses under FY 2010

I have applied for a work visa for the position as a dialysis nurse. I was filed last april 1 2009 and was wondering when will i get to have a visa? Anyone with a similar status of mine???:specs:

USC- US College I assume and PR?

Requirements? You have to be specialized right?

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

USC = US citizen

PR = Permanent Resident

H1b is a specialist visa and a new grad is not looked on as a specialist and with many nurses already struggling in the US that is where the problem will come in on proving that no one locally i.e. in the US can fill the job

hi there everyone. just want to share my situation and ask for any opinion that you may have. i took up nursing as my second degree in the philippines, locally licensed and passed the nclex-rn recently. my first course was chemistry and have a year of work experience as an analyst since i immediately went on to studying nursing. i do have an employer who's willing to sponsor me as a quality assurance nurse in a homehealth facility. my question is, do you think i could qualify for an H1B visa? im still looking for an immigration lawyer that can assist me with this. so any suggestion would be appreciated. thank you guys and God bless! =)

Hi! This is what i think, having a BSN degree qualifies you, the question is your experience in Nursing...but home health facility is different setting, so it is again possible. Why your the one looking for a lawyer? In my case, my home health care petitioner have a lawyer.

I assume that your petitioner will shoulder all the necessary expenses, so just go ahead, you have nothing to loose...Good Luck and God Bless!!!

@byblos747: thanks for the reply. :) that would help keep my hopes up. fyi, i have no experience yet as an RN since i tried to finish all the exams first. i told my employer about it and they said that it won't be a problem, and if it would, then theyd just sponsor me utilizing my first course as a chemist with qualifications as an RN. but how would i know which one will work? thats a tough one. btw, i do have a tourist visa and the reason im looking for an immigration lawyer is id like to know just in case i get denied with an h1B, would they be cancelling my tourist visa too? i mean, i still want to go visit the US, but then if my application would put it at risk then id have to widen my options. ... so you said u were sponsored by a homehealth. thats great! how did u do it? :) thanks a lot for your time and God bless! =)

@siyara- if your petitioner says so'' then i think there would be no problem...they wont risk a big amount of money if they are not sure.

All the works are done by my petitioner thru a lawyer, all i did was to submit to them the requirements needed, such as TOR, diploma, births cert, marriage contract and work certs.

The petitioner also made interview which they said are part of the requirements.

Between your tourist and H1b visa, i have no idea...Good luck and God bless!!!

The requirement for H1b visa is that the position must require a BS/BA or higher and the person must have experience in that field. In the US you don't need a BSN to practice as a RN. If you don't have experience in a specialized field then you don't qualify for the H1b visa.
