Gwynedd Mercy University Weekend Option Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Hi, I wanted to know if anyone attended Gwynedd Mercy University's BSN weekend option program, or is planning on applying for the Fall 2017. I am unable to find a lot of information about the program just some basic stuff. I would like to know about the work load as well as the times of meeting on Saturdays and Sundays. Also, I would like to know what a typical Saturday/Sunday is like in the program. Moreover, I have applied for the Fall 2017 BSN weekend option as well as 24 month BSN program. I am just waiting to hear back from them. Any information that you have to share is welcomed and appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I applied for that program also which is the same with me they won't render a decision until my A and P class is done. I am also submitting my application today to Thomas Jefferson they have two 24 month BSN acclerated programs. One is like a traditional where you go 5 days a week with breaks and the other one is 2 nights and weekends but is still considered full time. I was going to do the day one, but when I seen that they were offering the night one made me change my mind and you can only apply to one. My transcript that Gwynedd is waiting for Thomas Jefferson just received on Tuesday and I requested them both at the same time.

Oh ok, how many prerequisites do you have left to complete after this semester? I have just Biochemistry and Statistics in which I am taking next semester. If I am accepted to I would just have Statistics to take. Neumann University and Lasalle also have a part time evening/weekend program. Lasalle doesn't let you know if you're accepted until March. I took the NLN test and passed it for Lasalle as well. I am just amazed at how competitive these BSN programs are. I guess that they get a large amount of applications every year now.

All of these schools are so different. This is my last for and for gwynedd mercy I need Biochemistry and Nutrition (which I have taken, but if its not by a nutritionist I will have to take over). I think I would only need biochemistry for Thomas Jefferson also. I didn't apply for Lasalle because I did not want to take that test  ...lol I haven't heard of Neumann, so maybe I will look up some information and apply there also.

Hi, it was brought to my attention that Widener University has an evening full time program. It is 18 months. I believe it is Tues thru Sat evenings, but I am not completely positive about that. They start reviewing applications next month. I just thought that I would share that with you since that would be a much quicker route to BSN.

Thanks Nish for the information. Is Gwynedd your first pick? Will you go somewhere else if you get in?

You're welcome Lovely! Originally, Gwynedd was not my first pick, but as I thought about the time that I will have to put into the program with having a family this program seemed more a fit for my situation. I like to be able to be home during the week for my kids. After to talking to a few of my friends who are nurses they said this route would be better. I do wish that it was a shorter program, however, I do like the fact that the summer classes are all online. I will have my weekends in the summer at least. That is definite plus for me since I am off in the summer since I am a teacher. What school is your first choice at this point?

Thomas Jefferson is actually my first choice, but if I can get into the weekend program I think that would also be a better fit for me. I still need to work, and right now I do three 12 hour shifts a week. I could still work 2 to 3 days and go to school on the weekend. In the summer weekends would be free and I don't mind doing online classes. I would love to be able to get it done fast but the way our finances are set up, I feel as if I have to still work.

Hi all! I've recently applied for the weekend program beginning Fall 2017! I just had my transcripts mailed today, so I'm sure it will be a few weeks until I hear something back. I'm glad that I was able to find a thread specifically for the weekend program :)

Did anyone apply without all of their prereqs completed?

Hi, I applied without all of my prerequisites being completed. I still had 3 more prerequisites to complete. I just completed microbiology last semester. This semester I am taking biochemistry and statistics.

Awesome! Thank you for sharing! I have A&P, psych, stats, nutrition completed and will be starting A&P 2. I'm hesitant to finish them all before knowing if I've been accepted because the other program I'm applying to (comm college ASN) only requires A&P 1 and the TEAS.

I totally understand what you are saying. That's how I feel about the biochemistry class. Most schools only require regular chemistry. Also, I applied to the 24 month program and Lasalle Achieve program which is an evening/weekend program. I need to still work, so I only applied to programs that I would be able to continue to work.

How is 's 24 month program set up? I also looked into Achieve, but their classes start to early in the evening for me to get there after work :/. The admissions counselor there was super informative, which I appreciated, so I wasn't wasting my time. I've attempted to contact an admissions counselor at GMU and I just keep receiving the same email over and over...

I believe that it is set up similar to the Achieve program. Classes are Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 or 10. Also, there is lab/clinical every other weekend or every Saturday. You start in September and will be finished in exactly 2 years from your starting month which is nice. I think that Widener University has a 18 month program which is evenings too. Neumann also has an evening program too.
