Nursing Students School Programs

I couldn't find a thread for anyone who applied to GWU for the Fall 2015 cohort! Just wanted to share the torture of time with anyone else waiting... :)

Did anyone register for classes today? I believe that one of the emails stated that registration for Fall 2015 starts today.

Hi, I am going to be registering for my first semester in the MSN-FNP program at GWU soon and I was just curious if you have any advice on which classes to take first and does it matter who you get as a professor? Thank you!

Specializes in ICU, academia.

Just got accepted to the GWU FNP program. Excited. Hope I like it.

Specializes in ER. Critical Care.

I recently have been researching FNP and ACNP online programs. I am having difficulty in differentiating on what you can and cannot do with each role. I am someone who likes options when it comes to a career and do not want to be stuck in one place/ specialty. I would like to get my FNP being that you are more likely to get a job placement in the ER after specific certification. My NP goals and interests include: ER, critical care, acute hospital setting as well as possibly outpatient, or specialization in cardiology or pediatrics. If you hold an FNP, my question i,s can you still work in an acute care hospital setting and obtain specific certifications if needed without going back and having to repeat for your ACNP? Also, any advice on good online FNP programs? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

FNP and ACNP are 2 totally different program that requires different certification. Sounds like you may need to look into a Emergency tract program where you will be trained both as an FNP and a ACNP...at which point you will be able to site both exams. So, the answer to your question is no. You cannot LEGALLY work as an acute care NP with an FNP certification.
