GWU FNP Fall 2015

Published

I couldn't find a thread for anyone who applied to GWU for the Fall 2015 cohort! Just wanted to share the torture of time with anyone else waiting... :)

Hey I also heard back on May 22 and got accepted into the ADN-BSN/FNP program. Did you get any corresponding information from then aside from the mandatory orientation in August? I'm afraid about this program and the time difference since I live in Hawaii.

I sat in on a webinar last night for MSN/DNP students and they had a Q/A at the end where I found out our program has an on campus orientation on 08/26 at the Ashburn, VA campus and then later in the program (they said near or around the middle of the 3rd semester) we would be instructed to return to campus for the MSN orientation that is 3 days long. Then of course we have the campus visit for the Primary Care seminar and then the Final Skills Assessment. It looks like we will have to come to campus a total of 4 times due to our program's nature. Aside from that, I have not received any other specific information about the 8/26 orientation; however, I did email the BSN coordinator yesterday and when I hear back from her I will definitely let you know.

I've emailed the BSN coordinator about the bridge course and she informed me that we do not have to take that course. However, I'm wondering if we need to register for our courses or will they be walking us through that during orientation. Also, I haven't received any of the health requirement forms. If you're comfortable with emailing me and perhaps swapping numbers that would be nice too. [email protected]

For those of you who will be starting the MSN/FNP program in the fall, what professors/CRN did you register for? For NURS 6207: Evidence Based Practice, I registered for CRN: 67521 and CRN: 65121 for Adv Phy.

Also, I was wondering, how would you guys feels about starting a private fb group? It maybe a little bit easier to share information.

I am from Baltimore County as well! Did you get in? I was accepted for Fall 2015.

hi there!

I did get accepted to the fall 2015 program. I can't wait to get started!!!

Specializes in Med/Surg, Outpatient Surgery.

Anyone planning on going full time in the fall?

On the Gweb website, under the est. cost of attendance, it states that books and supplies are $1,200. Does GW automatically charge you for books and then send them to you? Or are we able to buy books on our own? I was planning on buying all of our books on Amazon and not the bookstore.

Been away for a while, but I would join a private FB group if anyone started one. Might be good for asking each other questions and 'socializing' and such, considering it's an online program :D

Chalon, I think they'll just give us titles and hopefully IBSN numbers and we buy the books ourselves. I hope so, since I'm planning on buying as many as I can in ebook format. I've now been to three (yes three!) universities and they always give you an estimated cost, but I've never have them just send me the books.

FutureFNP2, I'm from Baltimore County too!

Hello Everyone,

I created a closed FB group for everyone who will be starting GW's FNP this fall as a way to share information.

To all of you who have started this program, How do you like it so far? What do the on-campus components consist of? I've gone back and forth whether I want to apply here or not.

Hello! I have applied for the spring semester start. Just wondering how you are liking the program so far. I am still waiting to hear from admissions. Let me know your ups and downs. I too had a lot of trouble with nursingCAS. That was a big frustration of mine. How is it the program so far?
