Gwinnett Tech Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Is anyone here applying to the 2017 session? I've seen some other GTC threads from previous years and am wondering if there are any current pre-nursing students lurking around. Those were fun to read, btw.

I just recently took the Kaplan for the first time and will be taking it again in January so I can hopefully get a better score.

Is anyone completely done with the admissions process? I'm anxious to see who gets in and who doesn't because it doesn't seem like there's a sure-fire way to tell based on what I've seen. Time will tell! I sure hope I'm one of the lucky ones.

No problem.

So are you planning to apply in 2018 then? Because the deadline to apply is Jan 15th, (extended until the 16th because the 15th is a Sunday) and there's not enough time to apply for and take the kaplan.

It's now January 15th and was wondering two things: How long is the expected wait to find out the decision, and how do you find out when you've been accepted?

The adviser I spoke with said 'yes' emails go out about 2 weeks after Jan, 15th. 'No' emails will go out in March or April, I think. I've seen on here that for the last few years, 'yes' applicants found out because of a change of major on the student banner.

I guess just share on here if you hear more or see a change in yours. Mine as of now has not changed (4.0, 78 kaplan :/) The "enrollment advising manager" had told me that should leave me sitting decently. Tbh though, not even sure if i'll take the acceptance seeing as within two semesters I can complete the rest of my pre-BSN credits and complete a BSN after.

If you go the other route, (completing the pre-BSN credits), will it take shorter or longer to get your bsn as opposed to getting your adn first?

I'm waiting right here with you all. I have a 4.0 according to the nursing gpa on the application and received an 89 on Kaplan. Good luck!!

Congrats!! Those are great scores! Hopefully we'll know in a couple weeks! Fingers crossed for all of us!

It will take me only two extra semesters, but I would have a BSN and wouldn't have to try to bridge while working and deal with all of the politics behind that whole decision. I digress, I do think we are all in the program, but just keep refreshing your academic transcripts via banner and check if it changes to "nu-13" or "nursing". Good luck everyone!

Ps. I believe that we will have to wait longer because of it falling on the weekend of MLK holiday so I wouldn't expect anything soon :(

That's not bad at all. What politics are you talking about?

I'm sure we'll still know fairly soon. They seem to be on top of it. Hopefully we'll know something by the end of the month.

Have you guys received the receipt of application letter? I received mine today.

No, I did not receive that... I can see my application pending but did not get an email. Weird..

I wouldn't worry too much about not having received one yet, especially if all of your application info is in the banner. A friend of mine hasn't received hers yet, either.

Phew! Ok, thank u! This worry wart was like, "oh no, what does that mean?" Haha!
