Guys Hope life is treating you well
I am curious what made you guys get into nursing
Im thinking about it but I think a part of me is unsure/scared
Im 24 and have a bachelors degree already
I thought about going back for nursing, education or counseling/socialwork
Nursing seems to have more openings though
I am thinking about pros/cons of each
Job security, money, CRNA. That's why I choose nursing... I don't really want to go through med school, but I want the doctor pay. CRNA seemed the only way to pull that off. I'm a RN student right now... one of 2 men in a class of 40. It's still kinda strange not having a group of guys to talk to about school.... sometimes I wanna talk about "man" stuff while on breaks from class...
I was a medic in the Air Force twenty years ago. Three years ago at my construction job a wall fell on my head, wake up call! I applied to nursing school as soon as I recovered, I start clinicals this week and I am looking forward to having patient contact again after practicing on dummies and my fellow classmates.

Five years ago the thought of being a nurse never even crossed my mind. Then, I suffered a career ending injury that prematurely ended my USMC career at 12 years. I moved back home and was not prepared for life as a civilian.
So, I looked in the papers and decided that I'd try out being a CNA. Took the course and was happily working as a CNA. The LTC facility I work at started sponsoring CNA's to become LPN's.
I took them up on the offer and as of today, I am an LPN.
Lots of reasons to be a nurse, but as in any career, if you love what your doing you've found the right job.

Best of luck, my brother is a CRNA and that's my long term goal as well.

I was a paramedic prior to nursing school. I thought nursing would give the opportunity to expand my knowledge base, and I would never be without a job.(in hindsight, never rich either)
