GTCC ADN Spring 2015

I know it's early but I just couldn't wait any longer for a thread to be started. I took my TEAS test today and passed!!! I've met with the advisor to do my ranking...so I guess it's 3 months of anticipation and hoping I get it. With the new changes in the criteria for the program I can only imagine more people will apply making it more competitive for a seat in the program. Anybody else planning to apply for Spring?

From what I gathered we are getting the Lippincort and the ATI eBooks. I wonder though if there will be supplemental material to purchase. This is what the Class of 2014 purchased in there packages:

Penlight

Safety Glasses

ATI Nursing Curriculum Package

Pharm Aspects of Nursing Care Bundle (3 items)

Williams Basic Nutrition and Diet Therapy

Davis's Drug Guide for nurses (heard this was the best drug book on the market)

Nursing SWP GTCC (custom) * I am thinking these are the scrubs

Handbook of Lab and Diagnostic test ETC

Nur-111 Course Outline

Total was $1840.82

When I look at the GTCC online book store it only lists the following for the fall 2014 program:

Nur-111 Package Course Points for Concepts Fall 2014 $874.50

ATI Nursing Curriculum Package $654.50

I doesn't appear to have the items ready for the Spring 2015 program. What are you guys doing to prepare? I've been trying to review some A&P, EKG, and dosage calculations. I am no genius when it comes to math so I'm trying to put in some time NOW getting if down before classes start.

Wow that is alot of stuff... I have not really been preparing at all I am working in the medical field as a Certifioed medical assistant and also taking some classes online. I hope it helps having some medical background. Who is in section 3? We should try and get together and meet before class.

I'm in section 3. I've been trying to review anatomy and dosages so far. Does anyone know if there is a required color for our stethoscope? I'm going to place an order Monday and wanted to make sure of the color.

Im also in section 3 and I would love to meet before classes start! I've been reviewing A&P, and I'm gonna start reviewing dosage calculations. My sister is getting my stethoscope and I told her turquoise or pink! I hope color doesn't matter!

Im sending Mrs. Sarmiento an email about the stethoscope, just to make sure. I'll let ya know what she says. I would love to meet before classes begin. I live about 45 minutes away from the GTCC. Where do ya live?

Unless it's a new requirement, there is no restriction on stethescope other than it must have both bell and diaphragm (2 sides).
