I submitted my application for Georgia State University's nursing school last week. I thought I would start a new thread for everyone that is applying for the spring. I know that I will be checking my mail box religiously over the next few weeks!
Hey everyone,Just wanted to let you know that some of the letters went out on Wednesday. Got mine yesterday. Hope all of you guys get in and we can all be starting together!! Am very excited and nervous about it! Let me know as soon as you guys find out!
Congratulations!! Are you doing the accelerated or traditional? Do you know how many were sent out? Also, what were your NET and program GPA? I hope our letters were in the bunch that got sent out on Wed! Now that I know some have gone out, I'm totally dying here!
Congrats, again!!
Hi Bdanders
I got into the accelerated program. I think we are in the same HHS 3000 class, we were talking about the admissions this week.
I have no idea how many letters got sent out. The package did say that we were to submit our decision by November 13th so I guess they will make most of their decisions by then. My GPA was a 3.9 and my NET was a 94. Hope this helps. Good luck, I am sure you will get in soon.
What's working for me to keep pressure off right now is just keeping myself really busy. I'm taking 6 classes, volunteer at the hospital on Fridays, work on Saturdays and spend Sunday prepping for the next week of classes. Also telling myself that today probably isn't the day the letter comes has helped a lot. Here's some info to bury yourself in for the next day or so :)
Here is the GSU Nursing School policies and procedures handbook http://chhs.gsu.edu/nursing/docs/handbook.pdf
and the list of text books (I have started scoping prices on amazon and half.com) http://chhs.gsu.edu/nursing/docs/textbooks.pdf
The first semester schedule is exactly what was posted by Jennieb30 (https://allnurses.com/georgia-nurses/ga-state-accelerated-427340.html), except clinicals are from 7am-1pm instead of 8am-2pm.
Information on uniforms:
"The designated uniform must be obtained from www.meridys.com and must meet the following guidelines:
Top: Meridy's navy blue scrub top with red sleeve trim, v-neck and two front pockets.
Pants: Meridy's white scrub pants with a straight, non-cuffed leg. Pants may be drawstring, but drawstring should not interfere with safe patient care. Pants must not be see-through. Pants may have cargo pockets.
Lab Coat: White lab coat with length of student's choosing but no shorter than hip length and no longer than knee length. Sleeve length can be three quarters to full. White scrub jackets may be worn."
I'm starting my quest for shoes this week. I'll let you all know what I find!
Thanks for the information. It was really helpful.
Good Luck.
