Grossmont Nursing Fall 2019 Cohort

Published

Hello everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us applying to the nursing program at Grossmont College for the Fall 2019 semester. This will be my third time, yes I said it, third time applying! I am a veteran at this now, so feel free to ask me any questions8FF27886-261B-48B2-847C-E86980D9F0C0. The first time I applied with a 76, the second time I applied with an 81, and this time I will hopefully be applying with 83-88 points depending on if they take my retake for Microbiology. I have done everything and anything to increase my points, and I am hoping that this time is my time (third time's a charm)! How many points do you guys think you have? I look forward to hearing from all of you, and good luck to us all!

I got the acceptance Email!

I tallied my points based on Grossmont's scoring rubric; they didn't tell me anything. I wanted to record it here on allnurses, because when I was looking at RN programs, I kept checking this site to try to find out where the cutoff was for previous cohorts.

And thanks! Good luck to you!

Thank you! If they gave me all of the points I submitted for, I got in with 86 points. It is such a stressful process. I also got in at National, and am waiting to hear back on what my final points were there. I was denied at National last fall and now I have choices! It feels so good to have hard work pay off.

I want to tell anyone that is going through this and doesn't get in to keep trying! Volunteer, get your CNA certificate, take 3 semesters of a language to get those 3 points, and just rise up and get it done. You CAN do it, and if you stick with it, you will.

I got my email of acceptance earlier today!!!! Currently freaking out!!! I had between 81-86 points! I’m not sure how much they gave me, but I assume I was closer to 86 because the competition was fierce!!!! I’m currently bringing my acceptance letter of intent to grossmont!! And freaking out!!

Got in with 91 points, good luck everyone! See you at orientation :))

I was accepted!!!!!!!! I haven't been able to check all day because I'm at work, but I'm finally on break and checked my email and got the acceptance!!!!!!!

Absolutely!!!!!! You are completely right!!! Do your best in the classes! Retake them if you can!! Try and check every single box on the multi criteria points sheet!!! If you do that, you have a great chance of getting in! I’m so excited to meet all of you May 31st at orientation!!!! Great job everybody!

Got my acceptance letter, but I turned it down. Good Luck to you all!! Maybe I will see some of you guys at West Coast U!!!

For those of you that got accepted already, congrats!

Is there a deadline you have to accept or deny by?

Hey everyone!! I'm finally home from work. Congrats Congrats! I made a facebook group for all of us in case we have any questions or want to meet up at orientation. The name is Grossmont College Fall 2019 Cohort. Let me know if you have any issues finding it.

For those who didn't get accepted....don't you dare give up! Like I said, this was my third time applying. Do whatever you need to do to increase your points, and I promise you will get there.

Hi everyone! I also received an invite to join Grossmont's Fall 2019 cohort! However, I will not be accepting the offer because I got accepted into (and will start) SDSU's BSN program this fall. With that said, I hope that one of you on the waitlist is fortunate enough to take my seat.

Congrats to everyone who received an invite and plan to start in the fall! Your hard has finally paid off!

To those of you still waiting, please remember to stay optimistic. Congratulate yourself for being able to complete arduous requirements that many students don't feel they can do; it takes a special person to be able to handle the pressure associated with such intense prerequisites, especially nursing prerequisites. Also, remember that invites for the incoming cohort can be sent out until the first day of classes, so you still have a chance to earn a spot. If things don't out this time around, remember why you persevered so much in the first place. You've already accomplished a milestone that many struggle to complete, and you can do more by focusing on things that are under your control (getting a degree, getting allied health certification, getting work/volunteer experience, retaking classes, retaking the TEAS, learning a new language, etc.) so that you can earn that highly-coveted spot in nursing school!

I wish you all the best of luck with whatever path you go on, and I hope to see you all in the field one day!
