Grossmont Nursing Fall 2019 Cohort

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us applying to the nursing program at Grossmont College for the Fall 2019 semester. This will be my third time, yes I said it, third time applying! I am a veteran at this now, so feel free to ask me any questions8FF27886-261B-48B2-847C-E86980D9F0C0. The first time I applied with a 76, the second time I applied with an 81, and this time I will hopefully be applying with 83-88 points depending on if they take my retake for Microbiology. I have done everything and anything to increase my points, and I am hoping that this time is my time (third time's a charm)! How many points do you guys think you have? I look forward to hearing from all of you, and good luck to us all!

I start the first week of April. How is the course so far? Yeah, that is a bummer. I remember them saying at orientation that if you purchase the ATI, you can switch schools whenever, but I may be wrong, I cannot remember exactly what was said now. I would hope so. Is the ATI trial where they showed us the lists of different information to help us study? Would you by any chance tell me the steps to purchase that trial?

It’s pretty easy so far, pretty much just a lot of hw from math that was in the TEAS, and lectures on how the nursing program is gonna go. I actually just bought the ATI trial today, there’s instructions on how to do it on blackboard! Yeah I remember them saying that too, I’m just not sure if Grossmont uses ATI as they’re main website for the program like City does, but we’ll see! I applied to grossmont today, I really hope I get in there I’ve heard really good things about the program.

Thanks! I'll go purchase mine right now. I'll ask my friend whose in the program right now to see if they use ATI. I am pretty sure they do as well. Your 91 sounds like a very promising score. Deadline is coming up! We have a little over a month of waiting to know!

I asked my friend about ATI, and he said that they don't use it at Grossmont, I thought they did, but at least we have all that information available to us if we want to start getting ahead.

88 points here. Didn't get into SDSU, but I'm expecting good news from Grossmont in a few weeks. The wait, though. Ugh!

Hi guys! So when I turned in my application, I asked a few questions. The first: Who decides what "extra" points to give? I'm talking about the extra five we can get for life experiences/hardships. The lady said that their is an entire committee that reads the statements. The second: When you say that you're the first generation to attend college, does that mean the first to graduate from college? The woman answered saying that it "depends." And that's why you have to write a statement, so that the committee can determine whether they will give you that point. I don't know how late you all turned in your applications, but I turned mine in near the end of the application period. There were a lot of signatures on the sign in sheet. The lady said there will be about 300 applicants this go-round. And I have a feeling they may prioritize those who applied first, considering there will be a lot of us who fall between 82-86 points. Good luck to everyone! I'll be nervously biting my nails until we hear back........:)

Right! We will know soon! I really hope they count my retake for micro. If they do, I'll have 88 too!

If that's the case, then I hope Valentines day was early enough. I am hoping they determine a tie by how many times a person has applied because it's my 3rd! When it says if you're the first to attend college, I am assuming just to attend, but I'm not really sure, that's a good question. I didn't write a statement for low income. I just showed proof that I received the BOG waiver and that I was in EOP. Did we need to write a statement? I hope not ?

I don’t think you needed to write a statement for low income! So you’re all good. I showed that I got financial aid too, and I’m confident that is satisfactory. And I think you’re good for applying on Valentine’s Day! That’s early!!!!!

Hey Guys! This is my third time applying too ?? I’m going in with 87-92 points depending on if they accept my hospice work as related. I can’t imagine they would take your application turn in date into account since some people are out of town, waiting for transcripts, etc. This is the most stressful part so good luck to everybody!

How many points did you apply with the first two times? Great job on increasing them that high! Getting denied will only make getting accepted that much sweeter. We got this!?
