Grayson County RN Program Fall 2010

Published

HELLO EVERYONE,

DOES ANYONE KNOW PERHAPS HOW MANY POINTS YOU NEED TO GET INTO GRAYSON COUNTY'S RN PROGRAM FOR FALL 2010? AND FOR THOSE OF YOU ACCEPTED IN SPRING 2010, WHAT HAS YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE PROGRAM BEEN LIKE SO FAR? DO YOU LIKE THE INSTRUCTORS AND DO YOU THINK THEY HAVE A GOOD RAPPORT WITH THE STUDENTS? HOW MANY STUDENTS DO THEY ACCEPT PER APPLICATION PERIOD? WHAT'S THE INTENSIY LIKE IN THE PROGRAM? I'M THINKING OF APPLYING FOR FALL AND ANY INFO YOU CAN GIVE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

-KASEYP

Most of the time when I have asked a couple of friends allready in the program; the points that others had to get accepted does not matter anymore, since they are allready in. 20-23 points is on the average, so not sure. As far as how many total have applied, only from what other people have said in the past, so not confirmed is about 150. Are you taking other classes right now? If so what college are you at?

Brookhaven College; I'm taking Nusring Patho and Dosage & Calculations

Are those the classes that Brookhaven specifically request students to take for there nursing program? I am taking History 1 and General Nutrition. My plan is to get my BSN after I graduate from the ADN program, so that is why I am taking these classes now, while I wait to get in a program. Well, again good luck!

Yes, I have those two classes required by Brookhaven outstanding and End Of Life Issues ( which is a death and dying class) You also need Chemistry, Speech or Spanish, A&P I, A&P II, English I, Intro to Psych, and Developmental Psych- I think that's about it. I may be missing something?! And I'm not stopping there either- BA or Masters; it's going to take a long time. I wish you good luck too! :)

Hey!

I just wanted to let you know that I am applying for the Fall 2010 program too! I applied last spring and did not get in and I had 20 points. They cut off at 22 points. When I talked to the counselors, they make it sound like 25 points and better and you are a shoe in...its getting more competitive. I used this last semester to finish up and secure 30 points so that I dont have to worry about it. If you apply, they send a letter almost 6 weeks on the mark letting you know whether you are accepted or not. My denial letter(LAST SEMESTER)stated the point cutoff (22) and gave me the opprotunity to stay in their active files one more semester without filling out the whole packet again. Also, if you ever want correct, accurate information--go directly to the Health Science Center and speak to someone in that office ie. (Christine Hix, Joanne Barnes, Jean Flick). Regular counselours from the main office have given out bad information before. hope to see yall both at orientation!:D

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it!! It's a longshot for me to get in with 20 pts., but I decided to submit anyway; I'm geared for Brookhaven College's RN program, but as with Grayson, the competative factor is rising at an increasingly fast pace, making it that much harder to get in!! I wish you luck, too, and we'll see what happens!! And congrats on applying with 30 pts.!! That's amazing!! Good luck!!

:crying2: well, I am bummed I did not get accepted this time, but will not give up!! I only had 24 points and needed 26. I did apply again for the spring 2011. Good luck and hope I see you in the future at Grayson. :nurse:
:yeah::yeah: I am soooo excited!!! I FINALLY got my acceptance letter to Grayson County four days ago!!! I am on the waiting list for Spring 2011 but guaranteed a spot for Fall 2011, because of my position on the wait list I have a good chance for spring 2011 and I am still required now to proceed to mandatory orientation. Soooo happy!!! This goes to show NEVER give up hope and to keep trying to apply for your dream! :))) Good luck to all on your dreams too! :nurse: :):) :yeah:

Congrats! The nurse at my kid's peds office went there for LVN and is currently going for RN. She liked it and I hope you will too.
