Hey there! this is for all the edmonton people here. I was wondering if anyone knows if i applied to the grant macewan RN program, would i get any credits towards the RN degree for being an LPN?

I think you get accepted into year TWO if there is a seat.

No guarantee of acceptance.

Unfortunately, as far as I know you don't receive any credits for it unless you took your LPN degree recently and some of the classes transfer. I am currently in my first semester at Grant MacEwan, and there are a few experienced LPNs in my classes who had to start from scratch to get the BScN. One in particular had 10 years of experience across Canada, and she is still in my first year, first semester courses.

But really, what do I know, I was not an LPN. Definitely your best bet is to give MacEwan a call and see what they say about it.

Good luck, and if you do go to Grant.. I'm sure you'll love it! The Robbins Health Building is so new and just amazing.

I highly doubt it. They are very particular and it seems to be extremely difficult to get anything to transfer. Not to mention how slow everything takes to get done there! You're probably better off with Athabasca.

I contacted Grant MacEwan with this very question a few months ago... would I receive any transfer credit/advanced standing into the BScN program if I earned my practical nursing diploma and worked as an LPN prior to the program. The short answer: No. I was told that I would have to start at Year 1.
