Hello All,
I have an interview coming up very soon with the Grand Strand Medical Center, and was wondering if anyone could give any advice on what to expect at the interview (format), time between interviewing/job offer, hospital culture, etc. I am really excited for this opportunity, but extremely nervous because this is my first interview as an RN (new grad). Also, I didn't go into nursing for the money, and I realize SC isn't known for high wages, but does anyone have a clue as to the starting pay for new grad RN's at this facility? Thanks for any advice/info:)

Recently got hired. I'm not a new grad, but just a little more experienced. Anyways, they told me the new grad pay is $22.50/hr. This is $1.50 more an hour than the new grad pay at my old hospital in NC.
Just figured some people might want to know this.

I'm also a new grad and just moved to the Myrtle beach area from ohio. I have applied for 14 jobs at Grandstrand. I had an online interview back in March (before I graduated nursing school). I have not heard anything since then. I have also called the employment recruiter and left her a message as well as an email saying that I did pass my boards and was interested in a job there. Any advice on how to get my foot in the door, as well as how long it took for them to get back to you?

Airborn, what unit/floor did you go to? I just left there in June..
The online interview, was that the online survey thing?
So the timeline for me, I applied and a couple days later I did the online interview/questionaire. Then it was probably about 2 weeks later when they called me to come in for an interview and then was tentatively offered a position at the end of the interview.
I would say make sure that you have a good cover letter. The trick I think is to have stuff in there that makes you stand out and makes them want to learn more about you. Or something that separates you from all the other apps. Something to make them say to give you a chance, ya know? I was prior military so I stressed that and the skills from there that I felt help me in my nursing career. Just find anything from your life that is eye catching and can somehow relate to nursing.
I also email the recruiter right after applying online and basically summarized my cover letter in that email.
If you aren't getting any responses, then I would say apply for something and go in to HR. Shoot even try and go talk to the director or nurse manager for the floor you are applying for. Sometimes all it takes is that extra little bit to get you to stand out or to get someone to notice you. Best of luck to you!
Thank you for the advice. The online interview was the gallup survey. I called yesterday and talked to the recruiter she said that she had forwarded my information to the directors back in March, however that was before I graduated nursing school. She said she would resend them my current information with my licenses.I have a pretty good background in nursing. I have been an aide for 9 years and have worked in the ICU as an aide/monitor tech/ward clerk. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
Glad to hear it. Hopefully now you can get your foot in the door. I know they are in a hiring phase right now so hopefully you can find something. I hear the unit on 1East is hiring alot. There were about 30 RNs in my orientation yesterday. What brought your move to myrtle?
My boyfriend is in the golf industry and got a job down here. He moved down in February and I came down in June after I graduate from school. I have applied for a total of 22 jobs at Grandstrand and still have not heard anything. I have talked to the employment recruiter several times she said they are still hiring, so hopefully I will hear something soon. I have also applied at Conway, Waccamaw Hospital, home health care, hospice and stat care. I want to work in a hospital, but at this point I will take whatever is offered to me.

I am looking to relocate to the Myrtle Beach area in the next 9 months as a new grad RN. I have well over 20 plus years experience as a paramedic and have worked in the ED setting of a 50 bed ED Level II trauma center for the last 2 years. Can anyone tell me what the starting pay and bumps are like at Grand Strand or Conway ?
Thanks
