Nursing Students School Programs

Hello!

I am looking to hear from past, current and prospective GCU RN-BSN students.

Any recommendations on scholarships or how to save on tuition when out of state?

Any recommendations on professors?

I have stats, so I have to sub a course for that- anyone do the same?

Class doubling up- with which is wise? What is best to do on their own?

If you have any other suggestions, please let me know!

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I am also doing my RN-BSN at GCU. I also have stats and was told I can either retake stats, take a generic bsn class, or take a masters class and I can transition into my masters class when I am done with my bsn. Did anyone here did that or heard of that? I was trying to get more info from my advisor and she said she would get back to me but she hasn't. I am taking classes with 4 of my other classmates. I am the only one that has stats done. So, when I first met with my advisor, she said when everyone is taking stats, I can take a master's class instead, as long as I maintained a 3.5 gpa. So that was the route I was going for. But a few weeks ago, I met another advisor that told me I had to wait til the end of my bsn classes and then take my master classes. She said she was new to GCU and said she wasn't sure if she was giving me the correct info and to check back with my advisor. I have twice and she still says she'll get back to me. I would greatly appreciate any info..

Thanks so much!!

Yikes no clue! Can you sit out the class and wait for the others to catch up? or do you HAVE to take another class?

Retake stats? Is she smokin' crack???:roflmao:

I have to take a class. I need 36 units regardless. I was just wondering if I could take a master's class in place. I was curious if I could take it during my BSN or do I have to wait til the end to take a master's class. It would be useless for me to retake stats or even take a generic bsn class. I might as well take a class towards my masters if I can, right??

Make sense to me!

So for anyone who comes across here with questions- I ended up at GCU. I'm in my second course. Attending an online course is very different and you have to be self motivated because no one will contact you for anything except your CLC members. You have two discussions each week, due wednesday and friday and you have to respond to your peers, two posts per day and I do a total of ten posts each week. Two in response to the DQs and then eight responses to my classmates. There is also an assignment due each week. APA format papers- 750-1000 words in length. The CLC group assignments so far have been power points. You have to fill out an agreement with you group members, divvy up tasks and come up with due dates for those tasks, etc. Then you do the actual assignment. Make sure you hold your group members accountable and start early. Follow the rubric for the assignments.

Grading- Grading is on a a, a-, b+, b, b- kinda scale. Getting a solid A is 95% and up. I didn't realize this was the case when starting, kinda wish I had known. I would have still picked GCU though, and I'm happy so far.

Good luck!

Glad it's going well. The papers will ramp up on length with some being 1500-2000 words.

Clc will be PowerPoint, a well as papers. One class, patho has one dq on Friday, but it's a whopper.
