Nurses General Nursing

I am about to graduate as an RN from the College of Southern Idaho. I am super nervous about taking NCLEX. What was your strategies for preparing for this test? I need all the help I can get.

Good Luck. You will be fine. Nclex is a great prep for the real test. The greatest challenge is yet to come....being a nurse. I'm thinking....looking at my crystal ball...You're gonna master this!:monkeydance:

I gotta agree with this.

From my preceptorship alone, I can tell that the NCLEX is but the final process of my "formal" education.

The real test comes after I graduate, write and pass my NCLEX and secure a job!

elia: The NCLEX is just another exam. Each exam has it's own strategy. I haven't built mine yet - but if it helps you any, I'm concerned about it too. But I have full faith in myself. I survived 4 years of nursing school.

Remember, You CAN do it! Set your mind, heart and soul to it!

Nothing is impossible for those who believe in themselves :)

Practice, practice, practice, practice!

Solve mock exams.

The more engaged you are, the less likely you are to fail! ;)

cheers,

Congrats. It is indeed a nerve wracking time isn't it? I took a review book (forget which one, but I hear Saunders is the best) and studied one hour a day answering questions. I passed on the first try.

I had several NCLEX prep books mostly by Saunders. I'd do questions all the time. And if I was pressed for time I'd even read the questions go right to the answer and read the rationale so I'd have an idea why that was the answer too to help me get me thinkning about the question not just the plain answer to better understand it. Also used the CDs that most of these review books come with and played that in my computer lots of times. Then traveled to my test site week before so i wouldn't get lost and nervous. Then good night sleep prior to the test. During the test just stayed focus and tried only to stay with the questions and answers nothing else. I tried not to stray away and think oh my goodness I HAVE to pass or I'll be demoted, oh no this is an easy question I must have got the other one wrong, that type of mentality. That's whay I mean just focus on your questions and take it easy. That's what did if for me! Good Luck!

You know those I did find to be the most detailed and beneficial. I also enjoy Saunder drug books. They seem to orginaze the drugs nicely. Sometimes I have a hard time diciphering other drug books. For ex Saunders seems to be detailed.

Good couple NCLEX books.

Good night's sleep night before.

Good but not heavy breakfast.

You will do fine. The odds are definately with you!

GOOD LUCK!
