Graduating LVN to RN in May? How's it going?

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

About 8 weeks to go and I am ready for it to be over so I can concentrate on NCLEX!

Here's what I am ready for...

actual days off.

not buying computer ink in the jumbo packs.

throwing my extra scantrons in the fire.

going somewhere without my books (and not feel guilty;).

not doing 12 hr shifts every single weekend at the hospital.

getting financial compensation for the work I already do.

planning a vacation.

my signature with RN behind it.

How about you?

I graduate April 24, 2008 which is 33 days away. I can about tell you how many hours. It seems so far away, but when I think of all the assignments to be turned in plus 2 unit tests and a comprehensive final, and clinicals with careplans to be turned in, seems like there's not enough time. By time I graduate, I will have been taking classes for 3 years(part-time) and can't wait for the day I get to read a book for fun. Being a an LPN for so long, I thought I knew alot, but I have learned so much this past year. I work as a IV nurse, so I don't need to know specifics in patients charts like lab/xray results, signs and symptoms, but when I hear the nurse or patient talk about these things, all the stuff the instructors have pounded into my head kicks in and I figure it out before the assigned nurses do. So any LPN contemplating RN school, it is really worth it and YES, there is a difference between the two lincenses and jobs.:bugeyes:

I graduate on May 16, which I am really looking forward to! It's hard to believe its coming up so quickly. It's getting really hard to concentrate in school. . . . .my beef is that some homework from the beginning of the semester and on still isn't graded, so I don't know what my official grades are! I am 1% below passing in 1 class and none of the homework is graded. . . . frusterated with that.

But, planning on going straight on for my BSN! Can't wait to finally be an RN.

[color=#2f4f4f]...never having to do such an in depth care plan again

[color=#2f4f4f]...not having to drive 4 hours 1-2 times/wk for a stupid 3 hour class

[color=#2f4f4f]...earning better money

[color=#2f4f4f]...actually having off on my days off and not spending all the time doing homework

[color=#2f4f4f]only 48 days til finals!!! woohoo!!:anpom:

I graduate May 9!! We just took our HESI exit exam which we have to make an 850 or better to graduate, and I passed, so it's all downhill from here!! I do have 140 more Preceptor hours to do by May 2, but I'm just glad to have that HESI out of the way!! Now the finish line is in sight!! Now I can finally get my house cleaned...it's been trashed for a long time now!! Well, good luck and congrats to all of you who are graduating too...it's been along road but sssoooo worth it!!!

Gee this is one of those days when June seems like a million years away. While pulling meds I was hunted down to put one of my patients on the bedside commode and she had the nerve to tell me I should close the pixus and hurry up.

Our financial situation is getting grim. My Dh has been out of work for 4 weeks with a knee injury. He had post op appt today and now he needs PT 3 days/wk. Still non weight bearing status and needs to con't his CPM 8 hrs per day. 4-6 more weeks of disability. While I am thankful for the disability pay, it doesn't even cover our existing bills. We were barely surviving with his regular pay plus overtime before the injury. Injury was NOT work related. They disconnected our phone (land line) today due to non payment. We may be living in a cardboard box by the time I pass my NCLEX in June.

Send me good thoughts, well wishes and prayers please! I need some encouragement!

Hi LUtxNursing,

I wandered what your Hesi final was like.Our Hesi is worth like 20% of our final grade and I am right on the line of passing as it is. I usually do really good on them but with this one being so important I just wandered what on earth it was like and what I can study because I know they are national so it is the very same test you took. Do I need to study just med-surg or all nursing from the beginning?

I thought our 120hours were bad but I see that you have more, with everything else we have to do it is hard to find the time to do the hours and study for all the other tests and do the papers, case studies, ect...

Anyway, congrats on your graduation coming up, you did it!!!:yeah::yeah:

I hope everything works out for you. You should be able to get some assistance, shouldn't you? It is hard enough to deal with just school without having all the financial troubles too. Good Luck and I'll be thinking of you. :heartbeat

I'm so sorry to read this and hope DH gets better soon. Can you pick up a few extra hours at work? Or even do some night sitter work? That way you could study also. I know its a grind in these last few weeks but money problems would be far more stressful for me than working more. Wishing you all the best.

I am picking up at work. I have no choice. I didn't think about the night sitting...

It could be worse. At least I am at the end and about to graduate. Thanks for the well wishes

I hate life. Last semester and I still don't see the end of the tunnel. I made it this far but still I feel I will fail. I'm so tired of school and all the politics and stupid extra work. I wish being a senior was more rewarding. I want to study and prepare for NCLEX but instead they have us doing practiucum the second half of the semester, I'm working full time carrying 15cr and have to have 135 practicum hours in along with projects and papers. I can't even be happy about graduating May 5th, 2008. It all looks so dim and dark to me. Wish me luck because God knows I don't want to redo any classes:no::bowingpur:banghead::(
