Graduated in 1999 and gave up after 3 times

hey i am taking the nclex again for the fourth time!!! i graduated in 1999 and when i failed the third time i gave up!!! i went to work in another field for seven years and i was so miserable. everyday i would tell myself this is not what you went to college to do. i kept telling myself i was a failure!!!! then around the first of this year i saw one of my mentors from nursing school and she asked if i had taken the test again and i told her no cause i felt like a failure. she said do you think i am a bad nurse and i told her no you are awesome!!! then she told me she had failed the test seven times and back then you could only take the test 2 times a year! well then on the eighth time she became a nurse. man when you have a wonderful mentor tell you a story like that you get pumped back up!!!! so here i am and ready to tackle the nclex for the last time!!! i have been studing so hard and want to pass this time.

any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! i have sent off for suzanne's tips!!!! i will be an rn soon!!!!

Good Luck. I am getting ready to take my NCLEX again for the second time in December 2007. I have been studying so much and pray it helps. :uhoh21: The first time was horrible, but I thought I passed. You never know. I wish you the best.

Oh my...i never thought i would read something the same as with my situation now.I also graduated 1999 and with all the exams i took just to migrate here in the US,i never thought i'll had a hard time passing this exam (the nclex).I"ve been hurdling on it for the past 2 yrs and it'll be my 4th attempt now.I knew how hard it is to keep on studying all ur life and keep on hoping being an RN.But there's nothing we could do cos we'e here alrdy and we've been working on it that much.Just keep praying and soon we'll have this RN on our names.Goodluck to us!!!

It is comforting to know that I am not the only one who has taken the nclex numerous times and failed, but won't give up. Don't you dare give up on your dream. I graduated in 1996 and failed my nclex 4 times. I also went into another career as a Director in a daycare. I have been at this daycare for 11 years. I just gave up on taking the nclex again because I was tired of studying and just was afraid of failing again. I have started studying again. I am going to take my time and study 5-10 questions a day from the Saunder's cd. I know we can do it and I will be praying for you. We have to trust that the Lord will see us through. Study hard and don't get discouraged. You motivated me to keep studying. We shouldn't feel ashamed. We apparently are not alone. Good Luck and let me know when you are planning on taking your nclex again. I don't remember alot and know that it will be harder and more time consuming but I know that I can't finish until I get started. Take your time and don't beat yourself up if you take a day or two off to relax. You will pass if you just believe.
