Who's applied to GPC for the fall?

Hi guys!!! I just created an account specifically for this thread! I was accepted into GPC's nursing program for 2012, and I can honestly say my heart is about to explode! I really am looking to make a study group, as I think that would be extremely beneficial to our success in this program! anyone that would like to meet up at bootcamp or the first day of class let me know! we are in this together!

:)

Are there any pre-nursing students who are looking to apply for the Fall of 2013?? If so, have you taken the Teas yet? If you don't mind me asking, how'd you do?? I'm taking the Teas in August. Thanks!!!

I am a pre-nursing student for 2013 also but I have not taken the teas yet. I am planning on taking it in a few months because I want plenty of time to study. Did you buy the study guide from the bookstore? I think I am going to get it I am just wondering how much it costs and if it is helpful at all.

Mangopeach, Congratulations, I just read over your post again!!! Where did you find the Saunders book? I can't wait for the rest of us to be right where you are next year! Officially RNs!!!

Are we going to need all of the books that are listed in the bookstore for the first semester? I saw some of the same books listed for 1930.

@aelmo...I have a TEAS V study book with 2 tests in it, I can sell it to you for cheaper than the bookstore. PM me if you are interested. The study guide is very helpful and some of the same questions in the book were on the test!

@tygaspoohbear...I am wondering the exact same thing! There are so many books! Also, I am wondering if it is better to get a tablet for the nursing central app, or if putting it on your cell/iPod touch is better. They told us that we may need it in clinicals to look things up and a smaller device would fit in a pocket better. A tablet is easier to read, but you would have to carry it around in your hands at clinicals and that does not seem efficient.

Current nursing students, please feel free to chime in!

I'm thinking that we would be able to share it among our devices. You don't have to buy it from the bookstore because its the same price through the company.

I talked with a co-worker of mine at the hospital I work for who is in Semester 3 of the nursing program at GPC, and he was saying that the electronic book(s) set was a much better idea than trying to carry the 2 or 3 reference books it replaces. Also, he was of the opinion that the lab coat was over rated since in his words "you'll never use it." Just some feedback and ideas I got from someone who knows better.

Anyone going to the Boot Camp next week?

I'm not, the dates are not good at all for me. I wish they would have chosen some time in July.

Wow really? Need to check them out too 4 books! I guess since some of the walmart stores sells caskets they should sell textbooks too!

I think they only sell them online, but they do ship to the stores for free.
