So I have applied at a few hospitals in south florida and all the new grad positions has requirements; such as GPA of 3.0.
I really think this is unfair. I think it should be individualized. Now, my GPA was not terrible 2.70. It was not a 3.0. So.. what will they not even look at my application.
What is your feel on this? What should I do?
I am awaiting for my ATT right now. Hopefully I should test at this month. Crossing my fingers.

The thing is, with the current economy these employers probably have more applicants who worked, volunteered, juggled a complex life AND got above that 3.0 than they know what to do with. In other words, the screening isn't giving them only applicants with "book smarts" and no "street smarts" but applicants who have both.

I don't think it really is. I think that the GPA is used as a screening tool only, but then factors like work/volunteer experience come into play. I think the best thing that you can have going for you as a new grad applying to a residency program in to be already an employee of the organization or to know someone on the inside. Of course it won't work all the time, and there certainly are people that are accepted to programs without knowing anyone, but it certainly doesn't hurt.
