Looking to see what my chances are just strictly based off of stats. I know that there is a lot more that goes into being accepted (interview, experience, certifications, references), but I just want to see the numbers for those who have been accepted.

GPA: (BSN and/or overall)

GRE:

Thanks in advance to everyone who replies!

Many of the individual thread have stats posted for applicants, if there is a specific school you are looking at.

I have a question about GPA that I cannot seem to find the answer for. I am assuming that "science gpa" just includes the core sciences and not math and the actual nursing school classes.. is this correct?

How do you calculate GPA? Some schools only have ABCD, while other schools have A+,A,A-, all assigned to different grade points. Someone’s 4.0 could be someone else’s 3.75.

Regarding the math and science classes, most schools (at least the schools I am applying to) do not accept nursing curriculum as math/science credits. It varies per school, so I would call them and double check with them. Additionally, a lot of schools do take your math credits into account, I would make sure to read the admission criteria and do some more serious digging on the schools website and then give them a call to ask them ALL of your questions. This will also give you a chance to connect with someone at the school and potentially stand out if you get your name out there. The school I am applying to values: chemistry (organic or inorganic), biochemistry, physics, calculus, algebra, statistics or pharmacology. This is per their admission criteria page. That being said, chemistry seems to be a big theme amongst many schools to which I am applying.

After calling the schools, I found they appreciate undergraduate or graduate level coursework more, rather than community college level coursework (seems obvious, but if you are going to retake classes, or take additional classes, it is important to think about before spending thousands of dollars on cheaper community college level classes).

Also, if you did not do well in some of these classes, it would benefit you to retake them. In speaking with an admissions counselor, it is best if you can retake the same class at the same school, as this would actually replace the previous grade, however, if you take the class at a different school, it does not replace your grade and you are just adding further credits to your GPA rather than replacing the previously taken credits. Either way is fine, it just depends on your circumstances, and what would benefit you most. The schools will see that you are working to improve your GPA and take that into account regardless.

I don't know if all of this applies to your particularly, but just getting it out there for everyone!

Good luck!

GPA 3.3 overall, GRE 318 - M=157, V=161, writing 4.5

GPA 3.7, 4.5 years ICU experience (3 in MICU and 1.5 in CTICU), GRE waived due to GPA >3.5

Specializes in RN-BC, CCRN, TCRN, CEN.

I haven't been accepted anywhere for presumably this reason. My GPA varies depending on all the factors as mentioned. I'm not sure how some schools calculate the +/- system or if the Intro to Arts of Asia class I dropped failing my first semester counts or not. I went to a total of 4 schools so it's been very difficult. It ranges from a 3.03-3.30 I can send the calculator I use if that helps anyone.

Otherwise, I have 3 years ED, 3 years ICU, CCRN, TCRN, and CEN certs.
