Persistence is paying off...

I was informed tonight that I was professionally recommended by the October Navy board for direct commission. Not out of the woods yet but this has been an incredibly tough process. This community solidified my resolve and helped me with keeping hope alive, for this I am truly thankful. Sometime in a couple days I'll post a timeline in regard to my process. Until then, everyone be good to themselves :]

Funny how that works :) The new community hospital there is top-notch! Good luck!

Thanks! I'm pretty excited.

Well, the holidays caused me a bit of a delay in receiving orders but I finally got them!! I was able to have my husband swear me in 12 hours before he went on a month long training mission with the army. He's set to return 4 days before I fly out to ODS!

So folks, all the hard work has DEFINITELY paid off. I finished ODS on 3 FEB. I know some of you all are there now. It was BY FAR one of the coolest things I've ever done. I met some GREAT people that I will stay in touch with forever. I've checked into Naval Hospital Pensacola and am on my house hunting leave now. Those of you that are in the 4 FEB class have an awesome class officer. She was training while I was there. When you all get done, post back here your experience. Our class chief was the BEST! Good luck to you all. Anyone who hasn't gone through ODS, ask any questions you have and I'll answer the best I can!

What was your weekly routine like at ODS? Is ODS like bootcamp? Or is it more relaxed? I've heard you get weekends off and can have more personal items, thing like that. Other than the standard running, push up, and sit ups is there any other physical stuff you do in ODS?

When did you submit your package and how long before you got accepted?

The weekly routine is pretty much: Wake up at 0430, PT at 0500, breakfast at 0600, class/various exercises/downtime, lunch, class/various exercises/downtime, dinner, evening routine. The first couple of weeks you don't really have ANY free time. The Chiefs yell at you constantly and you will be doing more pushups than you thought possible, but after the middle of week 3, we policed ourselves and were given more freedom. We got off base liberty the last two weekends there. But no, I would NOT say it's like bootcamp. Much more relaxed. If you can get past weeks 1 & 2, which you CAN, you will be fine. As for other physical stuff, yeah you do various strengthening exercises, but PT is seriously not a huge deal. We didn't do near as much PT as I thought we would.

I submitted my package in August '11 and was accepted in October '11. I started my paperwork in February '11 though.

Reading all of your posts is so exciting:cheers:. Thank you all for inspiring me to hang in there. I've just started the process about four weeks ago and my recruiter is awesome...totally on the ball. I just have to hurry up and wait. I just love that! Haha.
