Can a US Civilian work at naval base in Italy?

Hi everyone. So, my sister and her husband, who is in the Navy, are moving to Gaeta, Italy in the new year. They have a 10 month old little son (my nephew) and I really want to move to Italy with them. I am currently a nurse in Alabama and just wondering if it would be at all possible for me to move there and work at the Naval hospital in Naples. I don't speak any Italian (just started trying to learn on DuoLingo lol) but I would definitely do my best to learn as much as possible if this could actually happen. I really don't even know who to ask or where to search so I figured I would try here. If you guys have any knowledge on this or advice or anything, please send my way!! Search for jobs on USAJobs.gov. They speak English in the US military hospitals. I grew up in Naples, it's an amazing place.

I looked at that site and only see one available job and its not even a nurse job, but maybe by the time next year rolls around there will be some more availabilities. So cool you grew up there, I would just love the experience!!! Thank you for your help!

True. When we served overseas, there were many civilian employees and some were nurses.

What privileges do you mean? I don't know that I will be able to find a nursing job over there and I know I wouldn't get the privilege easily. My sister said I could live with her so that would help at least. Maybe it won't be possible as a civilian, I just think it would be amazing, while I'm young and single I guess.

"Priveleges" refers to the services that military, family members, and associated civilians receive while overseas. Base privileges, health care, etc. But you will need to find out the requirements to live overseas without citizenship - they don't necessarily just let you come and stay unless you are working, a student, etc.
