Got In But Not Qualify For Fin Aid..help!

I got into NS but just found out that I do not qualify for any Fin Aid, non whatsoever. This is a 2yr program and the school says that 1) I have reached my lifetime max of fin aid of $46K and 2) I already have an MBA, they cannot help because the school caters to those getting out of HS who are trying to get an initial degree and not for p'ple gettingmore degrees.

I am so disappointed cause I really want to go to NS but I cant pay out of pocket.

Are there any other options that anybody knows about out there?

PS I do not qualufy for scholarships either for the same reasons.

I know I got a "personal" loan to offset what Financial Aid didn't cover. Its through SallieMae. Maybe take a look at that site salliemae.com and see if you qualify for any of their loans. Mine won't be needing to be paid on until 6 mths after I graduate.

My husband works for a student loan company and we also do not qualify for any loans. :( I will have to get either scholarships or personal loans. He says the best place to get a personal loan is through MRU, which is called My Rich Uncle.....and there's another one. I guess they have the best rates. You don't have to pay for them while you are in school but interest does accrue. You can either capitalize the interest or pay it month by month. Once you graduate (or 6 months later) you have to start repaying the loan.

I got a personal loan through Wells Fargo. It's expensive, but I think it will be worth it in the end.

Okay, my husband says to go to simpletuition.com

It's a good website for private loans.

Simple Tuition does the shopping for you and finds you the best rates.

What about credit...must you have good credit history?

When checking into it I never bothered to check what the credit requirements were since it wasn't an issue for me.

If you go to salliemae.com all the different load options are listed. I'm sure its in there about credit..or you could call them to find out.

I also would check into chase.com I got approved for a loan for 18k from there but my husband had to say that he would be a cosigner on the loan. I hope this is some help. good luck

How much are your classes per semester and how much can you afford to pay out of pocket per semester?! I might have some ideas based on these amounts.

I will be going FT..can't afford to pay out of pocket so was really relying on the Fin Aid

I'm really shocked that with a MBA you aren't making enough money to pay for two years worth of nursing school. :eek:

Don't feel bad I had to pay everything out of pocket also so I just worked the whole time. It wasn't too bad. At least when I was done I didn't use any of my savings and didn't have any loans due to pay back. Having a clean slate is hard work but worth it.

With more money comes more financial responsibilities....like they say more money= more problems....I would have to reduce my hours to go to school ....additionally, am a single parent so.....
