Yes I wore my PPE. Yes, I washed my hands EVERY TIME I did ANYTHING, and YES, I some how got CDiff from the only patient I worked with on isolation. ICKY...I'm sicky.
Does anyone know the record for going to the bathroom in 24 hours? Can you please check the Guiness book of World Records while I run to the bathroom-AGAIN!
Ugh.

Sorry to hear this, Maggie ... that really stinks.
(no pun intended, I swear ... )
I think it's amazing we don't all catch stuff more often. The only thing I can offer about the c. diff. is something we've been told about the brand of alcohol-based hand sanitizer that's in place at the 2 hospitals where most of our clinicals are: we've been specifically told that it's not effective against c. diff., so handwashing is the only choice there.
Hope you feel better soon.

Oh my gosh, Maggie!! I'm so sorry! I hope you are feeling better soon. What is the time-line for recovery w/c. diff.
I took care of one pt. with it - actually it was only assisting one of my fellow clinical classmates whose pt. had it. It was only the 2nd week of clinicals, when we were all sort of "green" still, and needed lots of help. Believe me, after learning about it, I scrubed 9 ways to Sunday, and took a shower when I got home.
I'm so sorry you've gotten it. I think sometimes now matter how hard and often we scrub and take precautions, you're just gonna come down with something yucky.

That is good to know, i had a clinical with a C-diff pt today to and did wash my hands but relied alot on the use of the alcohol-based hand sanitizer. They should advertise this info a little bit so that we can take the added percautions.

Sorry about that, hope you're feeling better. I'm a NC girl too and it keeps getting cool in my part of the state, so stay healthy for the winter. Drink lots of fluids. Get well soon.
