Gordon Nursing Program Spring 2011

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hello everyone!

I am applying to Gordon College's nursing program for the spring. I was accepted to the program for the fall semester but had to decline because I did not think that I could finish my A&P2 and micro classes this summer. My gpa dropped a little since I was accepted and I was wondering if any previously accepted students could help me determine my chances for getting in for the spring. I am taking A&P2 and microbiology this fall to satisfy the rest of my core. My gpa is a 3.26 and I got an 83.5 on my TEAS. Do you think that those scores will be good enough? When I got in for fall I had a 3.36 gpa and the same score on my TEAS, so theyre not that much different. This is the only program that I am applying for so I'm just hoping that I get in. If anyone can help me figure out my chances, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks :)

Ok everyone, we should all be registered by now. So what section did you choose? I chose section C. Also, How are we going to go about meeting each other at Camp I Can on next week? Any thoughts or suggestions?:):)

#1Mommy I just saw your post :) I'm in section A, I chose it so I'd have at least one day off a week (Tuesdays). Camp I can is tomorrow so I'm not sure how we could meet up? Did you have any ideas?

At Camp I Can now!

Okay this may sound like a stupid question especially this early but you know the nurse packs we received yesterday? Can we change the bag or do we have to keep our supplies in the black tote?

:lol2::lol2: Unfortunately, you must keep the plain black bag that was given:lol2::lol2:

that sucks :/ I was hoping to put it in a nicer one

has anyone got accepted for the nursing program in the fall of 2011????

Hey There :)! I was really excited to see there are other Gordon Students on this site, and so just like some of you, I'm wondering what my chances are of getting into the Nursing Program. However, I want to get in for Spring 2012, which means I have to apply by the July 31 2011 deadline. My biggest concern is that I might not have 75-80% of my core classes completed. I have three core classes so far, my GPA is a 4.0 at this point. I am taking three more classes this summer which will give me six of my core classes by the time I submitt my application. I will only need to take three more classes in the Fall. I have submitted a student petition so I can take an extra class this summer which will allow me to have 80% of my core curriculum completed, but in the event they don't approve this request, then I am stuck with only six core classes complete. I have also taken the teas V and got a score of 74.7%. Does anyone think that only having six core classes complete will hurt my chances of getting into the program, especially if I can manage to keep my 4.0 GPA? I am also a transfer student, but I'm exclusively at Gordon now taking the rest of the core classes they did not accept from my past colleges. Spring 2011 was my first semester at Gordon. So I'm not really sure they would look at me as a transfer student anyhow since I'm doing the majority of my core at Gordon. I would love some feedback on this because I don't know who else to ask! I met with an advisor in the nursing department and she told me that student's with 3.5 GPA's were being turned away. This seems a bit exagerated to me, does anyone know if this is true as well?

Hey you sound almost like me. I came to Gordon in the spring of 2010, I did English 1102 and psych 2103, in the summer I did A&P 1 and 2( this was hell), and in the fall I did microbiology 2250, history 2112, and art history to finish my core, I had a few classes that transferred but most were not accepted towards the ASN pre reqs( however I found out they county towards the BSN, so I don't have to take any other classes when I apply for the BSN). My GPA when I applied to the program in July 2010 was 3.26, and my teas on the old score was an 84. I still had not finished my microbiology, history, or art history, and I highly doubted I would get in since I had so many of my core classes left to to( 10 credit hours in total. I was accepted in October of last year. Once I finished all. Of my rereqs my Gordon GPA was a 3.56 after I was accepted. So I think you will have a solid chance, PM if u need help figuring out which professors to take especially for history, micro, and your required humanities. I can highly recommend the ones I had, and I'll give their names.

Hi Sowhat105! Thanks for the info, it is encouraging to know that maybe I'm not busting my butt for nothing. So you are basically thinking that you got accepted later due to your GPA getting higher? Or are you saying you think you got in because you fnished the rest of your core?

I'm just really hoping that if I can keep my GPA at 4.0 then they will overlook that I have three classes left to take. The student petition is taking FOREVER to be approved or disapproved, and I'm worried that if it does get approved all the classes in A&P II will be taken. So far I have taken both my Englishes, and Human Growth and Dev. This summer I'm taking A&P I, and Quantitative Skills and Reasoning during the A Session, and History during the B session. I'm trying to get permission to get into A&P II for the B Session since I have not completed the prereq but will have completed it by the time the B Session starts. If this works out I will have seven classes finished, that is about 80% of the core classes, and then I will only have to take Microbiology and World Lit in the Fall.

I gotin I think cause I had most of my science and math finished, be advised if you have ... for a&p 1 first session I would advise against taking a math course. If u can don't worry to much about English and snatch ... A&P 11 second session of summer

Thanks! I have heard good things about ..., I def want that teacher for A&P II. Lots of people complain about ..., but I'm out of options for A&P I Session A...
