I am currently in an MSN program. I have a BA in psych from 1988 and my advanced stats course is from 1988. They aren't making me retake stats, but I feel like I need a bit of refreshing! I don't want to spend the time on a course, but I am in need of some elightenment. I am reading journal articles and the terms sound familiar but I don't remember enough. Any suggestions of good, clear texts or other books? The Complete Idiot's Guide looks pretty good. Is there a good one for nursing/health sciences? Thanks!

I am wrapping up my Nursing Research/Stats class. I found the book "Statistics for People Who (Think They) Hate Statistics" to be very concise, easy to read and applicable to my class. We did not, however, have to memorize a bunch of formulas but were instead told to learn which stats to apply to what level of data, research purpose, etc.
To me it would be MUCH less daunting to open this book and work through the brief chapters than it would be to open a big nursing research text. The chapters are short and concise and will breeze you from standard deviation all the way to Chi 2 and ANOVA in no time !
