okay, everyone, i want a list of good shoes to order, for both, nursing as well as casual wear.
i have plantar fasciitis, went to the podiatrist and ordered orthotics. they have made my feet feel much better. but, i am still getting up with aches and pains, and at times, such as today, when i had to run from one building to another to tend to a patient that passed out in the heat in front of one of our buildings, my feet are aching!!!
i do plan to revisit the podiatrist at my job in about two weeks, but i am getting some serious money together to order some good shoes and want suggestions. i have some of the name brands that people have mentioned from my other posts, but want to compile (may be a typo-sorry) the list and start searching. it does not seem that there is a decent shoe store in my immediate area to visit and shop. i have no problems ordering on line or getting catalogs.
please help this nurse before i quit!
desperate and aching! (in spite of my pain, i thank you all in advance for responses)

I had problems with both my feet and lower back from 13 hour shift. It was all solved with MBT Masai Barefoot Technology shoes. They are expensive....however, I can honestly say I haven't needed the chiropractor in 8 months, and my feet never hurt. You do have to get used to wearing them, you walk differently in them and they must be used for a few hours at a time in the beginning. Besides not needing back adjustments, the nice side effect is that due to their design you are stretching your leg muscles, hamstrings and achilles. Good luck. Wishing you relief from achy feet.

Do they have a web site? Maybe I'll type the name into my browser and see what is going on. Do they also sell casual shoe wear? Thank you, Maisy RN-ER!
Maisy, just to let you know, I did find the site and I plan to order a catalog. Many thanks; they do look good. What is the normal price range? They didn't list prices.
Okay, okay...searching for more! Desperate nurse here...thanks again!

Z-coil shoes are designed for people with back problems, plantar fasciitis, sore feet, and so forth. They are ugly and expensive, but are also supposed to be the most responsive shoes ever made. You might need to travel in order to find a retailer that sells them.
The Z-coil motto is "Pain Relief Footwear."
I remembered that you posted them before. I just ordered a catalogue on line, and hopefully, they will allow me to order by telephone. Thanks for the site again!

Eek! Those are seriously ugly!
Sorry.
I guess desperate times call for desperate measures.

If you suffer from excruciating back or foot pain, you will not care if the pain-relieving shoes are ugly or cute.

I can't imagine ordering shoes without trying them on. I'm very picky about my shoes. I need excellent arch support because of my extremely high arches. I MUST try on the shoes. My feet are in excellent shape due to the fact that I've always had shoes that fit me correctly. I can't tolerate heels of any sort and my arches need good support.
Everyone has a different shape foot, I don't think you can get advise on what shoe to buy from another person and then buy that shoe from a catalogue. I think you should go to the store and try on shoes until you find the pair that fits just right.

Love LOVE LOVE my MBT's, totally worth the $245 price tag, and I would definately buy another pair. This is not to say that my feet don't still hurt sometimes especially after a rough 12 hr shift that has turned into 14+ hours, and I don't have the ibuprofen with me...
