I love anything by Echo Heron...she gives some great insight into the nursing field and really got me pumped up to start school. Also, I read "How to Survive and Maybe Even Love Nursing School" by Kelli Dunham. Humourous and helpful at the same time....
Have fun!

I was also going to mention this book. It was given to us at an orientation before our program started last year. Lots and lots of information and insight and enjoyable to read.
Best wishes and remember to take it all one day at a time!!

Nursing Student Success by the Made Incredibly Easy series. This is a great book, it has a 500 cd NCLEX question, studying tips, etc. It goes from when your in school to graduation to your first year on the floor. Suggested to me by someone who is in my program who's ahead of me. I think you will enjoy the book.

I have a copy of "How to Survive and Maybe Even Love Nursing School" by Kelli Dunham. If anyone wants it I will send it along to you. It is really a great book to read through. Just drop me a message.
You know what? I have one, too. First person to PM me with a name and address gets it!!
Great idea!!
Okay, it looks like my copy has been spoken for. :)

mine is also now spoken for....if you are looking for good reading, it's worth the investment...join the [color=#b10021]borders rewards club. you get weekly discount coupons that are good for use in the store and they range from 20% to 30% off. i buy a lot of my books there now as amazon has a crummy return policy if you buy direct from them. they charge all kinds of fees that didn't make it worth my while to return a $35 item i had purchased from them.

Thanks to the one who posted the question. I have been a CNA for 7 years now and will be starting nursing school in September, but I can't wait that long to start learning, lol. I know, I know, once I'm in school, I'll start kicking myself in the rear (especially seeing as I work full time also) but I'm going to go looking for these books. Thanks to the poster and replies!

Great idea to start reading now! You might consider subscribing to a basic nursing journal like Nursing 2007 or American Journal of Nursing. The student rates are VERY affordable and it will introduce you to the issues of nursing plus give you a head start on reading your clinical material! Good luck....

i also have a copy of this book if you're interested...you could always pm me
