"We Band of Angels" by Elizabeth Norman. It tells the true story thru eyewitness accounts of nurses trapped by the Japanese on Bataan in WWII. Talk about inspiriing! There's one part, where the commanding officer (head nurse) has been informed of the impending fall of Bataan and must decide which of her nurses to evacuate and who will stay, knowing they will be captured by the Japanese! I can't imagine the difficulty. Also, it speaks of nursing conditions....talk about humbling. These women are my heroes! I constantly wonder if I could have had the same dedication and strength they exhibited. Makes me so proud to have joined the ranks of nurses.

Hey Everyone:
I was just wondering what your favorite inspirational nursing books are, that are not textbooks? I'm finishing up my last semester of pre-reqs and start clinicals in August, and I was just looking for good nursing books (fiction or non-fiction) to keep me inspired as I go through nursing school. I saw some old posts about books but they are all old and all the books are out of print now.
Thanks!
Heather
