Thoughts, opinions, experiences on which hospitals/med centers are good and bad in the Dayton area (as far as working as a nurse goes.)

Thanks!

hello, new to this site...just wanted to ask if it's really that bad at GSH??? by the way, i heard that dayton has a very high crime rate???is this true??? how would you describe living in dayton??? i've just been offered a very lucrative position at GSH that is why i'm asking....any response would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

If you're considering living in Dayton while working at GSH check out some of the areas south of Dayton such as Kettering, Beavercreek, Centerville, Miamisburg. I live in Kettering an it's a great area and not too far from anywhere downtown Dayton.

We lived in moraine/west carrollton area not a bad place to live but if you have kids Kettering has a better school system.

Specializes in Med-Surg, mostly.

Well, I hope you find yourself a good job...it shouldn't be hard because there is a need.

I work at Southview Hospital, and have for 12 years, and it's part of the KMCN Network.

Grandview Hospital certainly has had it's problems, but what hospital hasn't? I believe it's location is the only thing that can't be changed.

Middletown Regional Hospital is just south of Dayton (I-75), and it's a great place to work . Middletown is moving to a brand new facility in December, "Atrium Medical Center". They are affiliated with Miami Valley Hospital and Good Samaritan.

I used to live in Dayton as a child. East side near University of Dayton. Boy was that a change when I moved to Southeastern Ohio. I remember crack deals on the corner and you didn't go over to the West side after dark. My brothers ex wife worked at Grandview. Yeah it is in a bad part of town. She enjoyed it overall, but there are places where I wouldn't go in Dayton during the day either. ;)

I worked at Southview near the dayton Mall and LOVED it. I worked on the Med/Surg floor. I only left due to a silly situation about floating. I should have stayed and worked it out because I loved it there. Its part of the kettering Network.
