My OBLC experiences
Ok if any of you remember me you'll know that I have been thinking about the Army for over a year now. I was going to finish school take me NCLEX and join with a friend so we went through this together. Well I passed in January with my RN and she has not passed yet. I'm 1/2 way through my BSN courses and STILL thinking about the Army. Why is this so scary for me? LOL I think I am a bit of a control freak and by not having anyone to talk to about being in the reserves (I don't want Active duty) I feel as if I can't move forward until I can feel comfortable. I'm not usually like this but signing my life away for 8 years I want to be sure that this is a way that I want to go. My husband whom is active duty in the army has 4 1/2 more years until he retires. He is all for me going for it and is on me every day to make up my mind. My children are 21 and 17 (I'm 37) so I don't have young kids to keep me at home. I keep asking myself why I want to do this and my answers are of course the tuition reimbursement, the experience, the friendships I could make and the places I could go. Then I ask myself why I wouldn't want to do it and the biggest is deployment, maybe missing my daughters graduation .... and I'm just plain scared of the 'new' I guess. I'm a friendly person and once I start talking most people love me its just getting me to feel comfortable and start talking. I kind of have a social phobia I guess. I just need someone who is in the reserves, that knows about the OBLC the life experience and can tell me how they like it or do not like it. Now my 2nd question. I have a torn ACL ...they will not even look at me until it is repaired will they?

OHIO Nurses what part of Ohio are you from and what kind of nurse are you/will you be
I didn't have a great experience from RETS and felt like I wasted some money there. But if they have new instructors for the RN program its worth a try. We just didn't really learn anything different and some of us didn't get very good clinical experience. I'm thankful that I had a great LPN school and had a few years under my belt. I heard that RETS is offering to pay for their school for the LPN's that are going on to get their RN if they sign a contract stating that they will work for them. Is that true?

deaconess/chamberlain college of nursing
I have been taking the online classes since April. I will be finished next April. I looked into the school and also called the BON. But I actually found their ad in the Momentum that we get from the Board. I also called some schools around here to see if I could go on the get my masters after graduating from Chamberlain and they all said that my credits from this school would transfer because they have all of the needed accredidations. So far I haven't had any problems with the school other than some of the online classes are kind of hard.

Pay Rates In Ohio For New Grads.
I was making 23+ an hour as a RN ADN at a hospital in Dayton. I worked there for about 6 months then when CSP (prn) and made $30.00 an hour plus shift differential and pickup bonus and call in bonus.

Good/Not-So-Good Hospitals - Dayton Area
I worked at Southview near the dayton Mall and LOVED it. I worked on the Med/Surg floor. I only left due to a silly situation about floating. I should have stayed and worked it out because I loved it there. Its part of the kettering Network.

Thinking of moving to Texas and need some help
Hello all. I am currently living in Ohio and I am SICK of this weather. I HATE SNOW!! My husband is in the Army and its almost time to re-up. Can anyone give me any good locations for nice weather (no snow) decent houses for sale (need land because I have horses). I am an RN but don't need benefits so I could do almost any kind of work. My daughter is 17 and is attending a Vocational School for Health Care classes to help her become an OT so I would hope to be able to have her move into something like that also. If not she and I would stay behind for another year and 1/2 till she was done here. Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated. My husband has children in Midwest City OK so it would be nice to be closer to them but OK gets snow so I'm NOT moving there. RN That HATES the cold!

it is OFFICIAL I am going GREEN
Ok, I just graduated from RN school, I should be taking my NCLEX sometime this month. I am interested in joining the nurse corp. The recruiter I have been talking to has explained the following to me ... just want to make sure that everyone else has heard or knows if this is right/wrong. I will have my ADN, I was told that I will sign up for the reserves and for 2 years I will attend school getting my BSN. During that time I will not drill or anything, just go to school. I will get a monthly stipend of over 1200.00 while in school. Plus I will get 50,000 in tuition reimbursement. Once I graduate with my BSN I will have a contract of 6-8 years and be in the reserves. At the time of my graduation I will attend OBC and then will start my drills and things. Does this sound right/wrong ... any advice? Anything I should clarify? What should I look for in my contract?

Information Please LPN to RN
RETS school of nursing (in Dayton) was bought by Education Affiliates ... they are opening a school in Columbus, I believe it is up and running now. If you can't find any info you could look up RETS Tech School centerville ohio and i'm sure they can give you the information.

Anyone in Midwest City
I'm looking for someone in Midwest city OK. I don't want to get into a long drawn out thing but I'll give a quick run down. My husbands kids are in midwest city OK and we are in Ohio. The 16th was his daughters birthday and we called to make sure she got our gifts and she was upset because she didn't even get birthday cake and icecream. Can anyone tell me if there is a place I could call to have a cake delivered to her? I don't know anyone else in that area or I would call a bakery and pay for the cake and see if they could pick it up for me. But I don't know anyone. Its killing me that she didn't even get a birthday cake .. every little kid deserves a birthday cake. I know this is NOT nursing related and I'm sorry. (*on a Nursing note I just graduated with my RN ADN ... Very excited! Been an LPN for 4 years)
