We use the Lewis book as well, and it seems as good as any I've seen. Of course, nursing textbooks tend to be expensive and I'd hate for anyone to buy one, then end up having to buy something else (if their school uses a different text)?

thanks for your replies..

i don't mind using a different book from what our school requires/recommends. i prefer to use a book that is easier to comprehend (english is my second language) they have the same content anyways.. With the fundamentals, the school recommends perry and potter but i used kozier instead bcoz (for me) it was more straight to the point than perry and potter.

i'd like to hear from people who used different books as reference maybe and which ones they prefer.

thanks again...

I Agree. This is a very good book. Very helpful for clinical stuff and care plans! It's bigger than my med dictionary though :uhoh3:

Specializes in OB, lactation.

We use Medical-Surgical Nursing: Critical Thinking for Collaborative Care (Single Volume, can get one or two) by Donna D. Ignatavicius, M. Linda Workman. It seems good to me but I haven't compared in depth to others.

If you are looking for something that cuts it down to the essentials you could try Medical-Surgical Nursing Made Incredibly Easy along with the one you will use for class.
