Good Googly Moogly They All Quit!

I was out sick one day, went back the next to find out that all of the RN's quit. My last day is May 8, their's is May 7th. They have 2 LPN's left. They are excellent but can't do any eval visits so I don't know what they'll do but you know what? I don't care. They made their bed and they'll have to lie in it.

I had a long talk with the care manager yesterday. I was being honest and sincere. I wanted her to know how I felt about everything. I told her that I had never worked in a place where I was not allowed to have an opinion, never allowed to ask questions about an issue that directly affected me. My questions were not well received and I was bluntly told these issues were none of my business. She replied "why would you think you should be included and given any information?". Hello!!!! The decisions you make that directly affect me are my business. Such as Why is the schedule done the way that it is? Why every night when I leave and get my schedule is it changed by the time I get back the next morning? Why do I never see the same patient twice? Why am I doing discharges on patients I've never seen? Wouldn't it be easier to keep the same patients and also be the one to discharge that patient? Her answer "You not privy to that information because you don't need to be, we tell you what you need to know".

Am I crazy? I'm just not getting their logic? Just like after 6 months of going into the hole on patients because their frequencies were all set at 3 x week and 4 1/2 months of one nurse having 40 hours of OT every paycheck, we are told that we are going per visit because it's our own fault. Why did the DON never tell us? The owner had been telling her to get a check on the frequencies. The DON was the one telling us how to set the frequencies and her reasoning was to keep the patient out of the hospital, she never spoke to the nurse with all the OT even though she was supposed to. She and the care manager had alot of closed door meetings. I said I wish you would have consulted us and let us get together and discuss these issues. We could have adjusted our frequencies and we could have helped the nurse with all the OT learn to speed it up. We could have spend some time riding with her to find out what the problem was. Sounded perfectly reasonably to me. No, you're not privy to that information. Besides that nurse would not appreciate you knowing that she couldn't handle her job.

Ok fine, I'm leaving and so is everyone else. The 2 LPN's are also looking because they don't want to take call every week and do 8-10 patients/day.

I'm thinking the owner needs to clean house and get a new care manager and new DON.

Thanks for letting me vent.....Whew, I needed that. Tell me... am I seeing this all wrong? Or are they really weird about all this privacy stuff?

Are you seeing this all wrong? You tell me. How many nurses do they have left?

DG, you did the right thing a thousand times over by leaving. I really thought this place was so great by previous posts, I had no idea they were so secretive.

Really, when you got secrets, that screams "up to something no good" to me. Decent management at least lets their employees give input on scheduling and other day to day issues. That's just basic decency!

Oy, your manager makes me want to scream,LOL. Good riddance to them.

Very good point Sue, Thanks!

Cattitude: This agency was a dream come true for me for the first 6 months I was there. I almost couldn't believe my luck. Everything was going along fine until the sudden change to per visit pay along with the reason for it. All of a sudden everything fell apart, accusations started flying, words were said, secrets were coming out. Amazing what money can do or rather the lack of it. I could never have imagined anyone quitting when we were per hour. The money was great, the assignments were light, we had lots of paid meetings, paid to chart, paid to drive. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Really too good to be true I should have pinched myself.

I also find out now that less than a year ago they had a total walk-out of the clinical staff, minus the case manager and DON. Interesting........

Perhaps, if they'd involved staff in yheir planning, they wouldn't be in this fix.

TIP: When you apply elsewhere, be positive, don't bad mouth the old job, and just say a lot of staff had left & you felt it was time to move on.

You know, just the fact that you would have to ask the question ''why when I leave at night does my schedule change by the next day?'' makes it pretty obvious that the answer will be ''because we say so!''

I didn't give any reason for leaving other than it just didn't work out. I would never bad mouth the agency because of the idiots who work there, it would not reflect bad on them but on the whole company and that wouldn't be fair. I come here to bad mouth and vent and that's why I LOVE ALLNURSES!!! :loveya:

Good Point Teapot! I was getting the same privacy stuff from the DON and care manager and I'm thinking is it me am I just not getting it? Obviously they're just not getting it and I won't waste anymore of my breath trying to explain it to them. This second mass exodus probably won't be the last if these two remain in charge.

Hey whose your Avatar dude? I noticed he's been hanging around an awfully long time! I don't recognize him.

It's amazing what dirt is uncovered about an employer after you go to work for them.

My last day with mine is tomorrow...and all I have to say is that it cannot come soon enough.

Good luck with your new job!

Well, if that doesn't make the owner sit up and pay attention, she deserves to lose her business!!!

The house has been swept clean...the DON and care manager were fired. Seems they didn't have the final say after all.

I was asked to take the care manager position. I told them I very much appreciate their confidence in me but no thank you. Mom was right...What goes around, comes around. :yelclap:
