Golden West College Fall 2017

Hey guys,

I didn't see a topic for this yet so I thought I'd make one. Is anyone else applying for GWC for Fall 2017? If so, what are your point totals?

The way I've calculated mine it's coming up to 71 points. Hopefully it'll be enough!

We all get ranked based on our scores. From that list a certain number (size of the cohort) with the highest points are given acceptance letters which we must either accept or decline. If 10 people decline, they will choose the next 10 people on the rankings (alternate) list. Some people probably have the same scores, but it's all based on your rank

How I read it is they have a list and a pool? I guess I don't get why they would have a pool lol I emailed them maybe they can enlighten me

im thinking the same thing. The way the letter stated it seems like there are two types of alternates.

Do you mind me asking how many points do you have ?

I'm not sure then... I assumed it was just one group. What exactly did the letter say?

The letter stating that you have been selected as an alternate pool and very few students are selected as an alternate pool. If acceptance decline then they will contact alternates numbers first and then alternatespool. So confusing. Is there any alternates have the same letter as me?

I got placed in the alternate pool as well. It says on average they take about 15 alternates each semester... but I don't know if those are people from the lists or the pool. I'm so sad :( Nursing school has been such a struggle to get into. I'm just praying they pick a lot of alternates this semester.

I called the Gwc and they said there are two types of alternates. One alternates and the other for alternates pool. I just don't understand why there is two type is lists of alternates. I know how you feel. Such a bummer also. Do you mind sharing your points ? So we all know where we are.

The girl from gwc told me on the phone that there is about 15 people on the alternate list, and then if they decline admission they start picking from the pool. I have 66 points, what about you? I was reading on past forums and people got in from the alternate list last Spring with 61 points. So maybe there was just more competition this semester! Or maybe alot of people turn down admission!

i got 69 points and still put on alternate pool. Look like this year more competitive. Did you apply anywhere else ?

Oh wow you're up there with your points! That's crazy you are in the pool, but you will probably be one of the first ones picked :)

I did. I applied to Saddleback, Santa Ana, RCC, and Palomar! What about you??
