Golden West College ADN Spring 2023

Updated:   Published

It seems like every cohort/application cycle has one of these pages. I wanted to start a new thread for the Spring 2023 cycle so we can keep each other updated during the application period and ask questions. Best wishes to everyone applying!

Does anyone know the schedule for first semester?

To my best knowledge this is usually how it goes:

Monday 8AM - 2PM are for NEST demonstrations, skills assessments, and simulations.

Tuesday 8AM - 12:55PM are for lectures, group activities, case studies, student presentations, and exams. Then later in the day there's an online class from 5PM - 7:05PM.

Clinicals start the 7th week of the first semester. Your clinical day can vary depending on where they place you for clinicals.

Do you know if the online class is online for the whole semester?

The online class is only for the first 8 weeks of the first semester. I highly recommend taking a look at the latest GWC class schedule and reviewing the GWC nursing handbook to get familiar with the program.

Hi guys! I got my acceptance letter from GWC! However, I am currently taking pharmacology and I want to drop the class since I got accepted. The only thing is that I will end up with a W on my transcript...will this affect my admission into the program?

No it shouldn't affect your admission

For those who got accepted, by what date do you have to accept your admission? I am wondering when alternates would start to hear back? I read last Spring's admissions were sent out in October which was a month later and alternates heard back soon after.

The last day to accept the admission is this Friday, September 23.

Does anyone live in the upland area?

You gotta wait it out till the end. Alternates chances depend on people not fulfilling the required documents; titers, vax, BLS, physical, background check, people getting accepted into their school of choice and withdrawing, people not being able to accept because of life, etc. Get all your documents in order, and if you don't make it in theyll still be valid for the next semester, BLS is good for 2 years and your tb test is good for 3 years.

Do you know when the deadline is for titers, vax status? I need another round of TB and am hoping the process won’t take too long

I have no idea. The email they sent was vague af, and the website doesnt give that much useful info /: but im assuming they HAVE to give us at minimum 5 weeks after the deadline to accept because the titer test can take up to 4 weeks
