This is my first post, but I am so excited because I went to Stanbridge College today in Irvine and absolutely loved everything about it (other than tuition of course! lol) I got all the financial aid stuff taken care of and just need to take the entrance exam on Monday. I will start with the next LVN class Nov. 10th. It is a one year program and they have a lot of great stuff built into the program. I have been going to a CC doing prereqs and was planning to take Micro this fall semester. That would mean I could apply to an RN program in the spring, but wouldn't be able to start anywhere until AT LEAST fall 2009 (highly unlikely to get accepted that soon!), so I am going to do the LVN to Rn route instead. I can't wait to get started!! All the students I saw there seemed to be enjoying themselves and the lab we peeked in on was very nicely set up. :wink2:
Im a stanbridge student in term 4 about to graduate in 3wks and if i hadnt already put in all this time and money i would go some where else. I hate this school and so do most of my classmates. All the costs were stated up front as included in the tuition and now they want an additional $750 for nclex prep, livescan, virtual ati, and judy miller. Its bs if you ask me. I dont have a job, had to quit my part time job cuz the school is so intense. Is this nurses or the damn military?????? Dont wear your personal jackets at school cuz they will have a heart attack. I was actually told to take my jacket off now!!!!!!! After school as i was getting in my car. Some of the teachers are so lame that i dont even think they know how to add!!!! Get a receipt for anything you pay so you won't lose the record and then you'll have to do it all over again. One teacher thought that she know everything there ever was to know about maternity and failed like the whole class. We got our info out of ati and she said that ati is wrong!!! Ummmmm im sorry but did you write a book on nursing? No, i didnt think so. How can you say that the material from the books that you gave us is wrong? Why would you give us those books then? Everything they say is a big fat lie. Ive been an a student up til i got to maternity. The whole class failing her tests says something about the teacher not the students. You may be a nurse but that doesnt mean your are a teacher. I only enjoyed dealing with one person in the office. I think its great that the school wants to "go green" and give us the power points on student central but now all of a sudden we cant have power points at all. What the heck is that all about???? Some of the stuff the teachers go over in class are not in the books. And you gotta love the speech about buying more books. Are you gonna pay for them? You want us to pay $30,000 to go to your damn school, tell us we nned to buy more books to be successful and then charge us for all the other stuff you said was included. I dont have the money to pay for all this. Im going to school so i can get a job to deal with the rise of the economy for crying out loud!!!!! I wouldnt recommend this school to anyone, not even if it was the last lvn school on the face of the earth. All this school wants is your money after they have it they dont care about you at all. At first glance this school is top notch but thats just to get you in the door and get your money!!!!! This school can suck it
Actually the laptop that comes with the tuition is a Lenovo Thinkpad from IBM. It is a nice computer. And we got Palm PDA's and the 2009 Drug Guide to download to the PDA. You get a ton of ATI books which is worth a lot. They are big on ATI. If you can pass ATI, you should be able to pass the boards. I am happy with my choice to attend Stanbridge. I have learned a lot so far. I am in Term 2 now and really enjoying myself and feel it was a good decision. So far our instructors have been top notch too. My only complaint is that the administration seems disorganized at times, but that hasn't affected my education at all.
Hi there,
I am new on the forum and was hoping i could talk to you privately before attending stanbridge June 1. I was trying to pm you, but could not figure out how....thanks so much !
Haha I can totally agree with you on the jacket thing. I got in trouble many a times with the typical "PLEASE REMOVE YOUR JACKET NOW" Ohhh the stanbridge days... how I remember freezing to death in class. It sucks to hear you guys had such a tough time in your program. I feel blessed to have had a good instructor at Stanbridge because he really inspired me to become the best nurse possibly by the passion for teaching he demonstrated on a daily basis. I wish I could have him as my nursing instructor for life But hands down Stanbridige is the school with the best classroom accommodations ever!!! Leather recliner chairs with laptops in front of you and a cozy desk where you can sleep under if you're sneaky enough (guilty).
As far as keeping copies for everything, yes, keep receipts and copies of remediation assignments ALWAYS!!! Administration staff seems to lose them a lot. Overall I enjoyed my stay at Stanbridge though. It's still a great school!
I graduated from their second parttime class. They term them by letters, so I was in part time B. As many have said before READ EVERYTHING twice, get a copy WITH AN ADMINSTRATION signature, and do not give ANYTHING to the ditzzy front office person it will get lost. As far as the education, top notch. Of the 25 people in my class only 3 did not have at least a 3.0 GPA most were 3.5 or better. So if you plan on going to an RN program they look at that. The part time programs tend to have more mature students in attitude and experience. Full time tended to have lower GPA's and were fuller, less mature, and at a faster pace. Not much time for studying, or a life. Our class had a pass of 99% because not every one had taken the NCLEX at this time. But most passed with 85-90 questions. It is true that there was a great change of instructors. But that lead to a new wealth of knowledge being brought to us. Made it better in long run. The DON is tough but only to make you better. Study, Listen, and ask questions, bounce things off your class mates ALOT. Question every thing they put in place, WE DID.
I'm trying to research as much as i can about Stanbridge, because i live in North County and it will be a drive, it's between Stanbridge and Kaplan and I seem to get a better feel from Stanbridge but then again it will be a longer commute....so if anyone has any input i would appreciate it.
Hello Everyone,
I am actually new to Stanbridge college. My first day of class is August 25. Im 24 years old and I am so excited about finally pursuing my career in Nursing. I will be attenting the night classes because I work full-time.
I live in Long Beach so its a little bit of a commute about 25 miles, but I figured it's worth it for such a great school.
Anybody out there starting in August...???

hey there :) I too start on the 25th! looks like we will be in the same class. I live in south orange county...it will be fun to meet you next tuesday. I am going nights b/c of childcare issues. are you excited or what!?:yeah:
I am totally excited. I had a couple friends that were suppose to start with me, but they all flaked on me. I was hoping to be able to have someone to go with because as you know starting something new is always better if you have someone to relate too, but it turns out it's just me :wink2: I cant complain.
Are you super excited about the class? I called so many schools before I finally decided to meet with a Admissions Rep at Stanbridge and I can honestly say I feel that I made the right decision.
I look forward on meeting you as well. Although, how will I know who you are.. hahahahahaha...lol.... :chuckle:chuckle

As a former graduate of Stanbridge, I can tell you the program was challenging, the standards we were held to were very high, the instructors were competent and caring. The school has a reputation for only hiring the best instructors from other schools. The support staff for the Nursing Program is excellent, and their are top of the line online resources available. The school has a 100% pass rate due to the curriculum, the instructors, the quality of the students admitted into the school, and post graduation resources to enable the students to pass their National Exam. The only drawback that I can speak to is that the school has other programs that are not medically related and sometimes they forget that nursing is important too. Good Luck with your program.
i have a weird feeling you work for the school....... ;-)
