Going to nursing school in Texas, then moving to Illinois...??

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I have a plan to go to nursing school in the Spring of 2015 in Texas. Once I have completed it, my family plans to move to Illinois. (We're trying to move back closer to family) My question is, is this the right way to do this?? I would essentially graduate in Texas, register as a nurse here in Texas, have to un-register and then retake the exam in Illinois. Could I complete nursing school and wait to take my licensing exam in Illinois?? Would hospitals in Illinois even hire me if I did my clinicals in Texas? Any help or advice would be extremely helpful!! Thank you

I got my BSN in Virginia then immediately moved to Wyoming and took the NCLEX there. Nurses move all the time. Or you could graduate then get licensed then when you move you just apply for license there. Just get the BSN and pass the NCLEX…anywhere.

Have you already been accepted to a nursing program for 2015? If not, it may be wise to have a 'Plan B' just in case that does not happen for you.

Thanks for the tip!! Yes I've got about 3 different plans actually haha. If I don't make it into nursing school in 2015 here in Texas I will wait to get into nursing school in Illinois.
