Just curious as why others are going the LPN route instead of straight to ASN or BSN RN ?
I want to be a nurse and personally can't attend a full time program. And in my area LPN was the only program that offered a part time evening class that would allow my work schedule and I have a 6 month old son. Also the private school didn't have a wait list. So ill be starting jan 13th. once I'm a LPN I'm hoping on a job that will allow me to live off while I can go Ft days to a RN program.
What are others decisions?

I took all of my prereqs for a BSN program but, Ive been put on waiting lists for 2 programs and I failed the teas test for another program and decided that I didnt want to wait any longer to start and finish my nursing career so I did the lpn route and will be starting my lpn-rn program in the next few weeks.

Okay so its working out for you well?I was worried it wouldn't work out as I planned

Before I realized I wanted to be a nurse. I messed up on human anatomy 1 and 2, I recieved a c in both class. Since i recieved a passing grade in these course, I am not able to retake these class. Now I am not a competituve applicant for the rn program at local community college in my area. I am forced to go the lpn route and then later go back for my rn.

I too had pre reqs taking to long and long waitlist my bachelors degree gpa was not competitive enough. I am going into my second term of nursing school in Jan. I plan to do the LPN-RN once I get my LPN lisc. I volunteer now at a rehab center hoping they will hire me once I get my lisc. For now I work part time retail. Best of luck!!!!! It was an intense first term for me but looking foward to clinicals and lab!
Congrats on passing your boards!! Omg you were able to get a job asap! Very blessed. Where are you located?
Which online program are you going to do!

I went the LVN route first because I am a 2nd career nurse and did not have any pre-reqs completed before deciding to go into nursing. The LVN program I went to did not require pre-reqs, but is still very competitive. I worked as an LVN while I completed my RN pre-reqs and through my RN program. Although I am a new RN now, I already have 3 years of nursing experience under my belt.

I am located in PA. I plan on starting Excelsior School of Nursing. It is an online program and has a LPN/LVN -RN program which fits into my schedule perfectly.

I had to make sure I didn't write this post because this is my same situation! I graduate lpn school tomorrow!!!
I think were all in the same boat I have prerequisites but the AP will expire so the lpn will transfer the credits to a degree.
Im so glad to know that the route I'm doing isn't a waste.

My original goal was my BSN because "hospitals will only hire new grads with BSN's...blah blah blah"--I just want to say Ive heard this the last 3 years, I work at one of the top hospitals in the nation and its with a bunch of amazing RN's with only their associates.
I also calculated what my student loan debt would be at a university and decided to do my ADN at local community colleges. Ive applied to three programs this semester; I didn't have enough points for two of them and have been chosen as a alternate for a LVN program. Its not my first choice, but will get my foot in the door for a decent salary and access to a lvn-rn program.
If I don't make it in the lvn program then Im gonna apply, yet again, for the Fall semester programs.
Im glad to hear so many other people doing the lvn-rn route for my same reasons. Its assuring :-)
