Headed into last semester and starting to get the anxiety even more. Does anyone know anything about transferring your license once you get it? My wife and I are both in school and desperately are seeking change. We both live in Ohio and want to take our NCLEX here. Our school seems to have a lot of issues getting the paperwork and everything done in order to be able to test as soon as possible. We are pretty set on the fact of heading from Ohio to North Carolina but there is no agreement on licensure transfer. Is anyone else in the same boat as myself? How do I go about applying for jobs down there in the meantime? How hard is it to transfer? How long does it take? Any and all information on this would be great.

The receiving state will always have the info you need to transfer between states. I will say that you need to ask them roughly how long it takes to transfer and plan accordingly because it took one of my friends a few months to transfer from PA to NJ and they are adjacent. But NJ apparently has a paper system where PA is electronic so that may have had something to do with it. Talk to the BON in North Carolina and ask them how you would go about it, how long it would take, and anything else you think of pertaining to transferring from Ohio or general licensure.
Edit: you also need to look up how to get your license in Ohio first so you can transfer it
Thanks a lot. Our school here in Ohio takes it upon themselves to get your testing date set up and they have told us that it is a smooth process once we pass the exam. It is just awkward because there is a big push to apply for jobs in the same hospital that our school is affiliated with. I just don't want to step on any toes because my wife and I are both students and we will obviously both be leaving. Thanks for the suggestion. Ill be calling them tomorrow!
