Okay so I am soo not wanting to return to school at my age (56). However, I have both an adult health CNS as well as a peds CNS certifications thru ANCC.
In looking further, it appears as though I could take (and hopefully pass) the AACN peds CNS exam and get certified thru them as the ANCC certification exam that I took in 2011 is being retired in Dec 2015.
From the website, it looks as though my program fulfilled all the requirements. Was wondering if anyone else who currently has the ANCC CNS cert has successfully switched to AACN?
Thanks for any more info....needless to say I'm beyond frustrated with the stupidity of all this.
Ally - yes I have rec'd email answers within 3-4 business days.
I'm so disgusted with my own choices that at this point I can't even contact them because I would write something I might regret - lol.
I've gone back to school to pick up an FNP (yet a third post-MSN certificate) as ANCC has now retired the Peds as well as the Adult Health CNS exams. Ugh!!!
At one point, I thought of taking the AACN certification but my professors recommended to take the ANCC first. I tried taking the AACN Adult CNS exam reviewer and it was very specific compared to ANCC. Previously thought of taking this exam but now I'm planning to take a post-FNP certificate or DNP course (whichever will allow part-time students). Wished I took the NP path first before the CNS.

@TraumaRUs, Thanks for posting this. I'm in the same boat, and am unable to renew my ANCC certification since I no longer practice in the specialty.
Do I let it lapse and not submit the renewal application and payment?
Is there a more formal way of letting ANCC know that I no longer practice in my certification specialty, rather than just letting it lapse?
I scoured the renewal handbooks looking for this info, and was unable to find it.
